Reliance Aerotech is currently collecting resumes for upcoming F404 Power Plant Technicians. These positions will be located at MCAS Miramar. Skill Summary: The Power Plants Technician shall have four years within the last nine years practical experience (IMA) on the F404 Engine or similar jet engine. Training should include Enlisted Basic Aviation Training, Aviation Machinist Mate (AD) Class A1 (Aviation Machinist Mate – Jet Engine) or equivalent, and F404 Power Plants and Related Systems Intermediate Maintenance or equivalent training. Must be qualified on ground support equipment applicable to the specialty, and able to read and interpret NAVAIR technical publications, documents, and applicable blueprints. Tasks that the technician shall be experience/qualified in and required to perform include, but are not limited to the following:
F404 Power Plants Technician, Level I.
1) The Power Plants Mechanic I maintains and repairs malfunctions in aircraft engines and modules. This mechanic repairs, replaces and rebuilds components including rigging and plumbing, using hand tools, power tools, and applicable test equipment. This worker reads and interprets manufacturer‘s maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility, and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
2) This mechanic performs routine F404 jet ending maintenance to detect and repair malfunctions such as fuel leaks, cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, warping, wear, and missing segments. Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks to locate source of malfunction.
3) Work involves: replacing or repairing worn or damaged components such as fuel controls, fuel pumps, modules, rotors, and fuel system components using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing modules and components from the engine, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts, reassembles and rebuilds the engine.
4) Job duties require that this mechanic: adjusts, repairs, or replaces engine system components and enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactory, may service engines and modules, overhaul, as required to keep engine in safe operating condition, shall specialize in work, repair and modification of engines and modules.
F404 Power Plants Technician Level II.
1) The Power Plants Technician, Level II maintains repairs and modifies aircraft engines, modules, and components, while applying technical knowledge of the power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as: blueprints or manufacturers‘ manuals.
2) Job requirements: must have a through knowledge of engine mechanical, and engine component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of entire engine system, modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of engine unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and micrometers.
3) This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex engine relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries on VIDS/MAFS. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
4) The Power Plants Technician, Level II in addition to the above requirements must be able to qualify as and perform as a Collateral Duty Inspector. Personnel subject to this requirement should possess the following qualities and attributes:

c. Have the ability to research, read, and interpret drawings, technical manuals, and directives.
d. Have the ability to write with clarity and technical accuracy.

g. Have an observant, alert, and inquiring nature.
h. Have the ability to work with others.
