JSfirm Member Press: Sabreliner Awarded Contract For Engineering and Research Support of Aging Structures

Sabreliner Corp. has been awarded a contract by the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) to provide engineering and research support for aging aircraft structures, as designated by the USAF and the USAFA Center for Aircraft Structural Life Extension (CAStLE). The contract has a not-to-exceed value of $90 million, with one base year and four one-year options. Joining Sabreliner in performing the contract are subcontractor team members Southwest Research Institute and NexOne, each of which will provide specialized engineering skills. The engineering and research activities performed by CAStLE cover a variety of tasks that follow aircraft and other structures through their life-cycle. Sabreliner‘s initial CAStLE contract work will be on the KC-135, an aircraft that Sabreliner has supported since 2002. Sabreliner also manufactures replacement rudders for the KC-135. “We, and our teammates, are delighted to have earned the confidence of the Air Force Academy. Genevieve, Mo., which was established in 2002 specifically for the KC-135 program and now supports other aircraft as well. The CAStLE program was awarded as a small business set-aside.
