Checks to insure that areas to be painted are cleaned, masked and ready for finish. Sets up, adjusts and operates automatic paint spraying equipment and drying ovens. Performs touchup work on the above, when required. Maintains close check and control on viscosity of paint. At ST Engineering MRAS, we are also rapidly augmenting our maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities leveraging the company’s expanded aircraft nacelle portfolio as well as it’s materials and processing expertise.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;What YOU will do:&amp;lt;/strong&amp;gt;&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;ul&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Safely perform structure preparation, painting, and detailing under minimal supervision.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Coordinate with supervision and inspection to ensure compliance with internal procedures, FAA documentation, signoffs and quality specifications.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Sand large structures down to primer without damaging underlying composite surfaces.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Perform wet sanding as required.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Apply Alodine, primers, protectants, sealants, and multiple aerospace coatings using spray, brush, or roller methods on a variety of substrates and simple-to-complex configurations per Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and internal procedures.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Apply final topcoat finishes (Base Coat/Clear Coat) to a high visual standard with minimal orange peel and accurately detect and match color differences including shade and brightness variations.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers and corrosion-preventive chemicals and use protective equipment (PPE) as required.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, paint thickness measuring devices and paint sprayers.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Properly maintain and care for shop equipment and tools, including performing routine minor maintenance on sprayers, paint guns, etc.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Comply with safety rules and procedures and address unsafe conditions immediately.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Use computer systems to create material demand, track squawks, sign-off work and access OEM Portals to retrieve data.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Move product within the manufacturing work area of the shop, including operating cranes and assisting with movement of large aircraft structures.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute improvement ideas. &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Apply stencils and decals in accordance with MRO documentation and CMMs&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Select mix and apply paint ingredients according to the TDS, internal paint procedures, and MRO planning documents to create specific finishes.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces using abrasives, solvents, and brushes or washing tanks to prepare to apply paint. &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Perform cosmetic surface repairs on composite aircraft structures using approved fillers (such as Aero Filler and Pin hole filler), sanding, and finishing techniques, ensuring no structural material is removed and all work complies with engineering and OEM specifications.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Use any equipment (e.g., various paint guns, power and air tools) needed to complete preparation and paint assignments.&amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings as well as maintenance manuals and MRO documentation. The Paint Shop Lead will perform functions assigned in the painting and stripping process of aircraft and equipment.   &amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;As a 24/7 operation,&amp;lt;/strong&amp;gt;   we have openings across all shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and 12-hour schedules. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work any shift based on operational needs. Preference is given to those available between 2:30 PM and 7:00 AM, including overnights and weekends. Some schedules may qualify for shift differential. Overtime&amp;amp;mdash;both scheduled and unscheduled, including holidays&amp;amp;mdash;may also be required.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:   &amp;lt;/strong&amp;gt;&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;ul&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Ensures that all work performed complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations and Ascent Aviation policies and procedures.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Works closely with immediate supervisor as well as Production Control Booth Coordinator to keep them informed on actual work progress in areas of responsibility.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Performs and assigned maintenance work including painting surfaces of aircraft and applying knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Cleans, sands, and applies chemical solutions to prepare and condition surfaces prior to painting.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Mixes and thins paint or other coating to specified color and consistency according to standard formulas or color charts, using spatula or mixing equipment and viscometer.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Masks and covers surfaces not to be painted.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Sprays specified amount of thickness of primer, protective, decorative, or finish coatings, such as paint, lacquer, sealer, or enamel onto prepared surfaces using spray equipment.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Lays out and paints insignias, symbols, designs, or other spanings on aircraft according to blueprints or specifications, using stencils patterns, measuring instruments, brushes, or spray equipment.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Regulates controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or other coatings.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Set up portable ventilators, exhaust units, ladders, and scaffolding prior painting.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Operates lifting and moving devices to move materials and equipment and access areas to be painted.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Make recommendations to management to improve productivity, increase efficiency, or cut costs.   &amp;lt;/li&amp;gt;&amp;lt;li&amp;gt;Performs orientation and on the job training for employees.
