The Accounting Manager is responsible for general ledger management and overseeing the daily accounting operations for the organization. This position will be involved in a wide array of accounting functions critical to the success of the company. In addition to the day-to-day oversight, this position will also provide support to the Director of Accounting and Finance with other duties and special projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end/quarter-end/year-end financial close process to ensure timely and accurate results.
- Prepare account reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to payroll, related benefits, accrued expenses, and prepaid expenses.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and reports.
- Oversee and examine daily activities in the accounting department.
- Assist in the yearly planning, budgeting, and forecasting with the Director of Accounting and Finance.
- Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and training process of new accounting staff for the organization.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff which includes staff that are offshore.
- Monitor the effectiveness of policies and systems and suggest modifications to improve effectiveness.
- Review and release wires, ACH payments, and check-runs.
- Manage Corporate Credit Card Accounts.
- Perform periodic budget-to-actual comparisons.
- General support and backup to the Director of Accounting and Finance for maintenance of the general ledger, banking, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Assist the Director of Accounting and Finance in the development and recommendation of new or revised financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare special reports and assist in special projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting and Finance and the leadership team.
- Participate in special projects and committees.
- Perform other duties as required or as assigned.
