Assistant Controller
Wyman Gordon is seeking an Assistant Controller to work alongside the Regional Controller of the Cleveland, OH, Mountain Top, PA, and Rockaway, NJ facilities. The Assistant Controller will be based out of Mountain Top, PA, and will lead accounting and finance activities at the site and support the Regional Controller with other site responsibilities as needed. The Assistant Controller will connect finance processes with operations, lead the accounting team, provide guidance to the plant staff with reporting and analysis tools, review journal entries and account reconciliations for accuracy, and assist the Controller with forecasting and budgeting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly accounting close, review journal entries for accuracy and compliance, and complete the close in accordance with division deadlines
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements
- Review monthly account reconciliations and verify the balances are consistent with GAAP and PCC Policy
- Work with the Controller to establish priorities and identify opportunities for improvement
- Work with engineering and operations to manage capital projects and complete required documentation for corporate reporting
- Work to streamline business processes
- Review inventory balances, investigate variances, create analysis tools for variances to standard, and monitor inventory for excess & obsolescence
- Partner with Accounting Analyst and Operations Manager to track progress of manufacturing spend and productivity targets
- Create a strong control environment by working alongside finance and non-finance personnel to ensure processes are executed in accordance with PCC policy.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure efficient reviews of financial data
- Review BOMs and Routers for accuracy
- Assist in annual budget process
- Lead the annual Mountain Top physical inventory and standard cost roll
- Complete special projects and ad hoc analysis as requested
- Be able to travel on a limited basis
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in either accounting or Finance with a strong understanding of US GAAP/Financial Accounting
- Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience, preferably with some managerial experience within an accounting/finance department (manufacturing experience, while not required, is a plus)
- Strong managerial presence that reflects a participative, proactive, and hands-on operating style
- Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and manage priorities
- Experience with standard costing, preferably within an Oracle ERP environment
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Must possess strong communication skills to interact with leadership and various departments
- Current or aspiring CMA or CPA is a plus
