Position Title: Senior Accountant Revenue Accounting

 

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant Revenue Accounting assists in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of JetBlue’s internal and external reporting by recording assigned financial activity and researching all types of transactions for accuracy.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly revenue related journal entries, which could include passenger revenue, credit shells, breakage, vouchers, etc.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, including air traffic liability on a monthly basis and resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Assist with rolling revenue budgets and ongoing forecast variance analysis
  • Research items of a technical nature to determine proper accounting and presentation
  • Interpret new financing agreements/contracts for proper accounting treatment
  • Ensure internal controls are effectively maintained for revenue related areas
  • Collaborate and partner with other departments and business partners
  • Assist with testing of revenue systems and ensure accounting reports are available and accurate
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Three (3) years of Accounting experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting theory and United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite with a focus on Excel including v look-up, pivot tables, etc.
  • Available for overnight travel (10%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Public Accounting firm experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • SAP experience
  • Airline Reservation Systems experience  
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills 
  • Self-starter who possesses a sense of urgency and an ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Capable of working independently and in a team environment

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $64,000.00 and $103,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
