Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant will perform accounting activities to ensure compliance with IFRS, corporate policies and external auditors. The Senior Accountant will have an active role in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, monthly closing, journal entries and account analysis.  

Job Responsibilities
  • Accounting: Coordinate the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all cost incurred are properly recorded, preparing/reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations. Identify and resolve financial accounting issues.
  • Reporting & Analysis:  Preparation of Monthly financial statements/forecasts in One Stream software.  Assist in preparation of management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets, and narratives including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports.  Coordinate and complete periodic Corporate Tax Packages and regulatory filings. 
  • Audits:  Assist with external and internal audits /reviews. Complete requested materials timely. 
  • Internal Control:  Evaluate and Document procedures and workflow to achieve accurate and efficient accounting systems, safeguard company assets and ensure transactions are recorded properly.  
  • Systems: Assist with system enhancements to increase efficiency, including testing and final approval for upgrades of system reports and automating processes. 
  • Cash: Forecasting and monitoring cash projections to actual 
  • Fixed Assets: Maintain fixed asset subsidiary ledger in Sage FAS software, depreciation schedules, costing appropriateness of new assets and monitoring asset costs against approved expenditures.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedure. 
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent, required.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in the accounting field, including experience in a manufacturing industry, required.
  • 3+ years of intermediate-to-advanced experience with MS Excel required, including functions such as pivot, v-lookups, and formulas.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Through understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including IFRS.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP system
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including email.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word and Access.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of fully integrated ERP software packages.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
