What Will You Be Doing?
Develops tactical and strategic pricing initiatives to maximize overall passenger revenue and align with company objectives. Monitors competitive pricing environment and ensures that Frontiers fares are appropriately positioned. Communicates pricing activity to Revenue Management peers and leaders.
Expected to perform at higher level than Strategic Pricing Analyst I, especially with respect to analyzing influences on market demand in order to develop sound market pricing strategies that will maximize revenue. Also charged with assuming a training/mentorship role with less-experienced team members and maintaining vision beyond the scope of immediate responsibilities.
Essential Functions
- Assess market performance and initiate fare strategies to capitalize on strengths and mitigate challenges in assigned markets
- Proactively identify fare adjustment opportunities beyond own immediate market set
- Monitor competitive fare activity and execute appropriate market-level responses based on market performance, quality of service, and company objectives
- Employ principles of game theory to choose fare actions that will be most beneficial to Frontier in the context of competitor response
- Collaborate with Yield Management counterparts on market strategy, providing strategic pricing direction and competitive context
- Maintain awareness of internal and external factors that can influence demand and use these to inform pricing decisions
- Communicate Frontier and competitor pricing actions to Revenue Management and Commercial teams
- Drive Frontier sale strategy by providing price point and rule/restriction recommendations that align with market performance; support Marketing by packaging sale fares into advertising-ready units
- Manage interplay between nonstop and connect bookings to maximize revenue and minimize spill
- Distribute Frontier fares to host reservation system and 3rd party fares clearing house
- Assist in training new hires to point of proficiency
- Mentor less-experienced team members on pricing principles, strategies, and analysis
- Help Pricing Manager and Director cast vision for team and propose appropriate fare actions given system and regional trends
Other Functions
- Ensure that fares are pricing correctly in each distribution channel
- Help resolve pricing and fare filing errors
- Look for ways to improve use of pricing and analysis tools
- Participate in project planning, process updates; contribute to strategic planning
- Assist Technical Pricing Analyst(s) with filing and maintenance of specialty fares, including group, government, loyalty and nonrevenue
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required; major in Economics, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics preferred
- Advanced degree in Business, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in airline pricing and/or yield management or in an analogous function within another industry
- Familiarity with ATPCO fare filing functionality, rule and footnote coding preferred
- Experience with Navitaire, SkyFare/SkySpeed preferred
- Experience with fares management software such as Sabre AVFM or SITA Airfare Insight preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of pricing and yield management theory and practices
- Demonstrated analytical ability in prior role(s)
- Refined interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience in a programming language (e.g. Python, R, SQL) preferred
- Entrepreneurial attitude, willingness to take ownership and drive for results
- Comfort working under general direction in an environment where there is not always a clear correct course of action
- Skill in distilling relevant facts from large data sets
- Ability to identify root causes and synthesize responses
- Capacity to multitask and prioritize among several responsibilities
- Active listening skills with a willingness to teach and provide constructive feedback
- Sound judgment and ability to maintain composure under pressure
- Capability of handling confidential material with discretion
