Job Overview

The Benefits Administrator supports the administration of the company’s benefits programs, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This role focuses on assisting employees with benefits inquiries, handling routine benefits administration tasks, and providing backup support for the HR Coordinator.

Essential Functions

  • Leave Administration Support
    • Assist with tracking and documentation of various leave types, including Short-Term Disability, Military Leave, and Workers Compensation.
    • Manage routine leave-related inquiries, explaining leave policies to employees and processing initial leave applications and documentation.
    • Coordinate with Payroll to ensure accurate processing of any leave-related adjustments.
  • Benefits Administration
    • Provide day-to-day support for employee benefits inquiries, handling basic questions on eligibility, coverage, and payroll deductions.
    • Process enrollments, terminations, and benefits changes, maintaining accurate data entry in the HRIS and assisting with updates to new hire orientation and intranet resources.
    • Conduct initial reviews and audits of benefits data and deductions, identifying and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with the Sr. Benefits Specialist.
  • 401(k) and Retirement Support
    • Serve as the initial contact for employees with basic questions about their 401(k) accounts, assisting with plan enrollment and general account navigation.
    • Support the Sr. Benefits Specialist in preparing documentation for 401(k) compliance filings and audits.
  • Workers Compensation Administration
    • Handle the administrative side of workers compensation claims, coordinating with employees to gather initial claim information and maintaining accurate records.
    • Assist in processing OSHA logs and other required documentation for workplace incidents.
  • Federal/State Reporting Assistance
    • Provide administrative support for regulatory submissions, preparing and organizing data for filings like ACA 1095 and supporting non-discrimination testing.
    • Cross-train with the HR Coordinator to provide backup support for tasks such as onboarding and employee record maintenance.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Knowledge of basic benefits administration and related laws (e.g., FMLA, HIPPA, COBRA and STD).
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to handle routine employee inquiries professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail for data management and auditing tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate appropriately with employees and managers on sensitive and confidential subjects
  • Must be able to write professional and clear emails
  • Knowledge of claims management, federal, state, and local laws, and reporting requirements
  • Proven ability to build rapport at all levels, and to deliver on commitments

Education / Certifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
  • SHRM-CP or PHR desired

Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in HR or benefits administration, or a related administrative role.
  • Familiarity with benefits processes, including enrollment, eligibility, and claims, as well as exposure to benefits laws like FMLA and COBRA.
  • UKG Plan Source experience preferred

AEVEX provides a reasonable range of compensation. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The range of starting pay for this position is for the listed location only. 

Salary Range
$27.66$34.98 USD
