Amazon Prime Air is seeking an experienced Certification and Regulatory Affairs Specialist for Drone Delivery. This role is part of our Regulatory Affairs team and responsible for executing projects and initiatives to support the integration of our airworthiness/certification processes for drones across Prime Air, with a focus in the European Region (EU/UK).

Export Control License
This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

Key job responsibilities
• Develop and coordinate airworthiness/certification deliverables (e.g. means of compliance documents, design verification reports) in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, e.g. aviation authorities.
• Partner with internal stakeholders, like airworthiness engineers and operational teams to drive as much consistency as possible for efficient development of airworthiness/certification deliverables and operational approvals (e.g. Operations Authorizations, Light UAS operator certificate LUC).
• Act as Amazon Prime Air focal point for regulatory Bodies in EU and UK in relevant rulemaking and standardization working groups.
• Brief team on all relevant EU/UK regulatory and standardization guidance for design, certification and operation of drones as well as regulatory changes.
• Partner with respective teams to strengthen overall compliance processes and system.
• Develop action plans for changes to certification and operation processes and execute those plans through completion.

Job Requirements:
• Extensive experience working directly with EASA and/or CAA on Type Certification, Airworthiness or operational approval projects and familiarity with EU Basic Regulations and associated means of compliance and guidance materials for drones.
• Experience in developing regulation and/or standardization drafts with key regulatory stakeholders (e.g. EASA, national CAA’S and/or standardization bodies, e.g. EUROCAE, ASTM).
• Experience working with aviation certification and/or regulatory approval processes and procedures.
• Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven interpersonal, communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening), and presentation skills.
• Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, Science, technology field, or equivalent industry experience.• 5+ years of experience working directly with EASA and/or CAA on Type Certification, Airworthiness or operational approval projects including familiarity with EU Basic Regulations and associated means of compliance and guidance materials for drones.
• Experience in key areas such as EU Implementing Regulations (2019/947) and Delegated Regulations (2019/945) and related acceptable means of compliance and guidance materials for EU drone operations.
• Engineering/operations experience in civil/commercial/military drone operations.
• Functional safety, systems safety, and design assurance processes (e.g. DO-160/178/254, 1309 design analysis).
• Experience with EASA guidelines for design verification of drones and special conditions for certification of light UAS (SC-LUAS).
• Experience with aviation technical standards groups (e.g. EUROCAE, ASTM, RTCA).
• Experience with certification processes, drone regulations (FAA, EASA, CAA, etc.) and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of challenges dealing with certifying autonomous drone systems.
• Experience in government/industry working groups such as JARUS and SESAR.
• Drone Systems design, drone safety analysis, and/or certification.
• Experience integrating business processes and applications.
• Experience with requirements management systems.
• Fluency in Italian and/or Spanish.
