Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Contracts the Senior Contracts Specialist will be responsible for administration and monitoring or contract performance on government and commercial contracts. This position is based in Halifax at our Bedford, NS location and reports on-site for day-to-day work.
As Senior Contracts Specialist, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the entire lifecycle of contracts within the organization. This includes drafting, reviewing, negotiating, executing and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements, while minimizing risks and aligning contracts with business goals
- Responsible for developing and maintaining strong business relationship with both internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for reviewing contract solicitation terms, handling contract award confirmation, interpreting agreement terms and conditions and identifying potential issues, reviewing agreement amendments/ modifications and incorporating changes
- Reviews contractual documents to ensure adherence to company policy, customer specifications and requirements, identifies risks and areas of concern on contract terms and conditions and provides contractual advice, guidance and support to the contract lead/program and operations managers
- Responds to inquiries regarding contract obligations and revisions
- Conducts fulfillment of contract deliverables, billings, cash collections and closeout activities
- Proposal preparation for customer requirements
- Prepares and analyzes moderately complex price proposals
- Negotiates standard terms and conditions
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend DRS’ mission, values and culture
Qualifications
- Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Business Administration/Finance or related field of study from a recognized post secondary institution or equivalent years of experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of contracts administration experience in a related industry
- Thorough knowledge of government procurement policy and contract principles
- Experience in the administration of complex, high value contracts/subcontracts
- Proficiency in PC tools (Microsoft Suite, Internet searches, Material Resource Planning Systems)
- Deltek Costpoint experience preferred but not essential
- Ability to efficiently organize and maintain complex contractual files
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Effective team player with highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with people of different disciplines and levels
- Expected to work with minimal supervision (Self Starter/Quick learner)
