Job Description:

Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist for OSG, NAS Analytics and Environmental Team. Provides guidance and direction relative to the compliance of environmental rules and regulations. Organizations and programs studied, though usually limited to a single region, center, or component of a line of business, are complex and interrelate extensively with other region/center or line of business organizations and programs.

Duties

Leads discussions on environmental documents including Environmental Assessments (EA). Environmental Impact Statements (EIS). Categorical Exclusions (CATEXs). Records of Decision (ROD) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). Participates and provides guidance and leadership to forecasts future resource needs to manage emerging environmental issues. Oversees studies, surveys, and audits to identify environmental problems and provides corrective guidance in accordance with applicable laws and policy. Provides expert testimony and works directly with Legal Counsel on issues and guidance on environmental projects& initiatives. Trains lower level environmentalist in aviation specific environmental guidance to support FAA management and facilities. DoD proponents and Third Party developers on environmental regulations in accordance with F AAO I 050.1 E and FAA JO 7400.2K. Leads and provides expertise in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other federal and/state regulations as it relates to environmental reviews, aircraft noise analysis, and other NEPA policy relating items.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Ability presenting high level, technical information to through briefings, reports and/or studies to a variety of audiences. Ability to apply environmental laws and regulations to advise on or resolve technical matters.
