Job Description:

Job Summary:  The Export Compliance Specialist is responsible for performing clerical tasks and detail oriented tasks related to export compliance record keeping required to comply with U.S. Export Regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Documentation/shipping: 65

  • Creating export and shipping documentation.
  • Working within SAP, Integration Point and other various tools/applications to organize and track shipments for Airbus Helicopters, Inc. and any other entities shipping through DFW.

Logistics and File Maintenance:  15

  • Manage clearance issues with carrier/forwarders and internal clients.
  • Identify and report any problems or delays to Sr. Director, Export Compliance.
  • File maintenance, paperwork and keep in line in the event of audits.
  • Review files regularly for completeness of documentation and accuracy.

Classification: 10

  • Classification of aircraft parts in various programs. Identification of ITAR and EAR controlled items.
  • Screening of parties to the transaction through various tools and reporting should due diligence background checks come back negative.

Licensing: 10

  • Assist in export licensing, training as needed (ITAR, EAR, etc.).

  • 2 years’ experience in shipping and receiving and/or purchasing in an office environment.

  • US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Microsoft Office
  • ACE
  • SAP experience and Integration Point experience preferred
  • OCR experience preferred

  • This position will assist with the classification of aircraft parts for shipping under ITAR and U.S. Customs regulations

  • This position will require attention to detail and completeness of records. It will also require the ability to learn and apply classifications to aircraft parts and require the ability to communicate in a productive, collegial fashion.

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking:  able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting:  able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling:  able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting:  able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling:  able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel:  able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents):  able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required:  Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
