The Lead Communications Specialist - Public Affairs will develop content and initiatives across multiple aerospace topics using a multi-channel strategy. The position is part of the broader public affairs team’s work to enhance GE Aerospaces reputation among key stakeholders, media, industry partners, and the public. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong communication skills, the ability to think creatively, and ideally an understanding of the aerospace industry.*NoteThis is a mid-career, individual contributor role that will sit onsite at our Washington DC or Evendale, OH facility.

Job Description

Role Overview

  • Support and execute communications plans and events to support GE Aerospaces business objectives and policy goals, particularly around innovation, safety, workforce and other key issues
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including across communications, legal, government relations and the business, to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging efforts
  • Conduct research and support development of priority public affairs content for presentations, reports, and briefings to internal and external audiences
  • Work with aviation stakeholders and partners to advance company policy priorities
  • Continuously monitor, report, and suggest ways to improve effectiveness campaigns

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 5 years in communications, public affairs, campaigns, government, corporate, or equivalent experience

Additional Information

  • Candidates must provide examples of published writing and visual content during the interview process
  • Ability to travel domestically based on business needs

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience in public policy, advocacy, or working with think tanks or policy research organizations can provide a deeper understanding of policy issues relevant to the aerospace industry.
  • Previous experience in developing a wide range of content, including speeches, op-eds, white papers, multimedia content, visual content, and data visualization.
  • Previous experience in crisis communication and developing crisis communication plans.
  • Strong and clear writer with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
  • Strong story telling experience in creating content across a variety of media (i.e. blogs, video, social media, visual explainers)
  • Collaborates effectively across complex organizations
  • Experience in production of content in various media, whether photo, data, video and graphics
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing landscapes and work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage and communicate effectively during crises or unexpected events
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Curious and always willing to learn

The base pay range for this position is 111,600.00 - 149,000.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.  This posting is expected to close on 3/10/2025.
