Job Description:
The Lead Flight Follower shall provide tactical and strategic leadership through management of the activities, operations, and personnel of Contour Airlines’ Flight Operations as well as assisting in establishing and achieving the Companys goals and objectives while maintaining the highest level of safety and compliance.
Summary of Essential Duties:
- Responsible for supporting the flight crewmembers with operational control of flights and jointly responsible for the preflight planning and delay of flights in compliance with Federal Regulations and Contour Operations Specifications
- Work closely with other divisions within System Operations Control to ensure that flight crew members maintain the Companys mission of safety above all.
- Plans flights considering the effects of enroute winds and weather, balancing safety, and economy.
- Determines the minimum fuel supply necessary for the safe completion of the flight including any required alternate airports.
- Provides pilot-in-command with preflight briefing including aircraft and flight status as well as providing all current reports or information on airport conditions and irregularities of navigation facilities and all available weather reports and forecasts for weather phenomena that may affect the safety of the flight.
- Monitors the progress of each flight.
- Issues necessary information for the safety of the flight
- Cancels a flight if the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released.
- Responsible for rerouting or redirecting a flight based on economic considerations. This may include special routings, passenger convenience, and aircraft/flight crewmember utilization.
- Recommends flight plan alternatives.
- Coordinates aircraft diversions and recoveries
- Negotiates with air traffic control for alternative routings and reductions in air traffic control delays.
- Provides operations expertise to maintenance department and System Operations Control
- Monitors and processes data provided by flight crew members and stations.
- Trainer for new flight coordinators or crew schedulers
- Monthly reporting tasks as assigned by management.
- Irregular Operations Lead flight coordinator - restructuring flights in flight tracking system when delays or cancellations have occurred.
- First point of contact for irregular operations for flight coordinators
- Monitoring operations for future flights - ensuring proper permits, slots, or permission have been obtained for the operation.
- Monitoring international future flights for permits or fly over permits as needed.
- Monitoring operations for future crew scheduling irregularities; Working in direct communication with crew scheduling and travel.
- Appointing tasks as needed to flight coordinators to help with any irregular operations.
- Following up with other departments on operational implantations causing irregular operations
- Attend maintenance meetings.
- Direct supervisor of flight coordinators
- Other duties as assigned by management.
