JOB OVERVIEW
The Manufacturing/Repair Shops Planner reports to the Process & Planning Supervisor and works directly with either the Manufacturing or the Repair & Overhaul planning leads. The planner is responsible for planning, creating and releasing the technical documents to allow the successful manufacturing or repair of an aerospace product or component. As a Planner you will also closely liaise with Quality Assurance (QA) and the rest of the Manufacturing shop to develop and document a corrective action plan for all quality or repair discrepancies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create job estimates, by planning out work sequence and calculating or collecting the necessary costing information including materials, manhours, internal or external services
- Establish new and alternate sources of supply to meet KFL manufacturing requirements; obtain quotations from approved vendors for processes such as: machining, grinding, plating, heat treating, forming, etc.; award P.O. to suppliers based on price, performance, service, terms and delivery schedule
- Create and check 3D Solidwork models of parts and shop tooling
- Research material and process specifications as required, supporting the manufacturing process
- Ensure that all manufacturing and processes are carried out in accordance with KFL’s Manufacturing Approval Certificate, ISO9001:2000 and CAR’s 561
- Evaluate technical drawings and data to determine the most correct and cost-efficient method to perform a specific task
- May negotiate settlement with suppliers on rejected, damaged and non-conforming materials
- Monitor and perform expediting functions as required to ensure schedules are adhered to
- Jointly working with internal and external contacts on matters concerning product definition, tooling, inspection, scheduling and corrective actions
REQUIREMENTS
- Post secondary education in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Diploma in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering program is desired
- Three years related work experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset
- Working knowledge and experience of metal forming, heat treating, composites, machining, finishing processes, welding, and CAD systems is required
- Computer skills required
- Strong interest in aviation will be considered an asset.
