Payroll Specialist

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist will oversee the payroll functions of the Operation, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with Company policies and government regulations. Position reports to Accounting Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for processing payroll and review of payroll and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Working knowledge of pay practices related to overtime rules, deductions and taxes.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Work closely with manufacturing supervisors, Human Resources, Division Payroll Supervisor to ensure accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Prepare periodic payroll-related analysis, statements and projections.
  • Process business travel expense reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
  • Proficient with payroll software.

  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in group/team settings.
  • Ability to present information and data in an understandable and logical manner.

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma. Associate’s degree in Business or some college preferred.
