Role Introduction

This role is responsible for delivering, maintaining and improving DevOps CI/CD platforms in a scale to allow development teams move fast on product delivery. The role requires to collaborate with development team, understand their business requirements and deliver the platforms as a service incorporated CI/CD toolchain and agile methodology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and run an automation, CI/CD and self-healing capabilities platforms to web and mobile application development.
  • Support CI/CD and hybrid cloud container platforms to deliver high availability and scalability platforms for business needs.
  • Ensure seamless operations of DevOps CI/CD platforms for application development including continuous integration, test automation, environment configuration and version control.
  • Collaborate with application team and transform requirements into Platform Ops service catalogue.
  • Assess and maintain quality of base images, library packages, CI/CD, container platforms to ensure compliance of corporate security and quality standards.
  • Retire and replace redundant or obsoleted CI/CD toolsets to keep abreast of spanet-leading solution.
  • Provide support and guidance to application team on service delivery and improve end-to-end experience by continuous improvement based on their voices.
  • Facilitate performance testing and proactive monitoring to support application release and production launch.
  • Enable segregation of duties with bespoke security access control on CI/CD toolsets.
  • Adopt FinOps practices to achieve economies of scale in DevOps environment.
  • Follow and measure Platform Ops KPIs to deliver the best to application team.
  • Maintain timely and accurate communications with Project Managers throughout the delivery life cycle, to ensure the IT infrastructure risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies are correctly tracked
  • Communicate the proposed design solutions to the stakeholders, and help to guide decisions regarding trade-offs that may impact the requirement or delivery timescales for infrastructure solutions
  • Keep abreast of latest IT technology trends and technologies to allow these to be levered to the business benefit of Cathay Pacific Airways
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and delivery partners
  • Cross team collaboration with other IT domains to drive business and technology innovation
  • Keep abreast of the corporate strategy, business plan and latest industry trends
  • Available to provide 24/7 support as required

  • Emergency and Accident and Crisis Response responsibilities as required
Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or above, Masters preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years IT experience, at least 3 years of IT Infrastructure experience
  • Experience in programming with languages like Java, Node.js, Python, Groovy, Ansible, TypeScript, Bash script, PowerShell.
  • With sound knowledge and experience in some of the below areas:
    • Cloud Provisioning and Operations (e.g AWS, Azure)
    • DevOps Tools (e.g. Ansible, Azure Pipeline, Git, Jenkins, JFrog, Terraform)
    • DevSecOps Tools (e.g. NeuVector, Seeker, Snyk)
    • Container Platform (e.g. Kubernetes, RedHat Openshift)
    • Elastic Stack (i.e. ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana)
  • Knowledge in CI/CD and DevOps mindset and principles of Agile or Lean methodology.
  • Knowledge in IT infrastructure and Cloud Operations.
  • Must have proven technical experience of working in a complex IT infrastructure environment
  • Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally, and in the written form, to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver technical internal presentations
  • Ability to work well with others and as part of a technical team
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills; ability to identify patterns and generate informed ideas
  • Focus on the business and end user’s needs; ability to set expectations and understand end user behavior
  • Ability and willingness to proactively accept, and drive, change to accomplish positive outcomes
  • Ability to understand strategy and align tactical and strategic work in a well-balanced way
  • Must have knowledge of how to lever technology to reduce operational costs and delivery business innovation in a fast moving and dynamic industry sector
  • Professional competency in at least one technical specialization, with broad understanding of other current and emerging technologies
  • Passion for bleeding edge technologies
