Principal Storage Administrator (SME) in Program Digital Services, collaborate with a team to support fast-paced, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you can develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.
What You Will Do:
- Act as the S&DP (Storage and Data Protection) SME for a geographically dispersed, large information system containing multiple PBs of data leveraging a diverse cross section of NAS and SAN technologies whose systems are interconnected and operational 24x7x365.
- Manage and oversee existing storage solutions (NetApp, Veritas, 45Drives, Synology, etc.), while championing, designing and implementing STaaS (Storage as a Service) solutions.
- Collaborate across Digital Technology and program(s) to deliver cost effective software and hardware solutions that meet current and future needs while following industry best practices and assuring a high level of reliability and performance through systems monitoring and infrastructure management to include a deep understanding of data storage performance requirements.
- Monitor and maintain the entire system lifecycle to include hardware and software refreshes and updates, licensing, and maintenance/support agreements while taking a leadership role in efforts to budget, order, and implement replacements.
- Develop, revise, and maintain technical and operational documentation (including procedures) to continually improve storage and data protection and ensure compliance with security requirements (DFARS, RMF, DAAPM, NIST, etc.).
- Respond to service and support requests from users, ensuring all work is tracked and documented while delivering world class customer service. Additionally, attend or lead regularly scheduled S&DP meetings to foster a high level of collaboration, while creating, delivering, and briefing updates and status reports to Digital Technology and Program leadership.
- Integrate and partner with customer(s), engineers, storage architects, system administrators, network engineering, tools and high-performance computing teams to solve complex infrastructure problems while ensuring to assist in developing the overall performance, capability and success of other others through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
- Willingness to work full time in an on-site position, inside a DoD closed area, and provide occasional off-hours support (planned and unplanned as needed), and potentially travel domestically (less than 10).
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an advance degree and 3 years of experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience with data storage and data backup technology tools and systems including experience with NAS and/or SAN data storage products with an emphasis NetApp FAS.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with NetApp OnTap installation, storage configuration, network configuration, data migrations, command line proficiency, software upgrades, command line and GUI troubleshooting, log analysis, high availability, inter-cluster connectivity, disk-to-disk backups, snap technology, and health monitoring.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, communication (written and oral), collaboration, documentation, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
- Experience with ADDS, DFS, WDS, WSUS, MECM/SCCM, MDT, PXE, PKI, Group Policy, Kerberos, Microsoft IIS, SQL, Skype, and Exchange.
- Experience with Linux and Windows integration tools (Centrify, Samba, SSSD, NIS).
- Experience with virtualization, VMWare vCenter, vSphere, Horizon, and ESXi and/or other virtual computing methods.
- Experience with monitoring and compliance assessment tools, vulnerability scanning, and auditing tools (ACAS, Splunk, Nessus, SCAP, STIG, Ivanti, Nagios, SolarWinds).
- Experience with CMMC, NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Perl, Bash, Python, and C Languages).
- Experience with automation tools/frameworks (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, GitLab, Gitlab Runner).
- Experience with developer tools (Git, Artifactory, Bitbucket, CI/CD tools, Jira).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Docker Desktop, Kubernetes, PODMAN Desktop).
- Experience with Agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
