About the Role

Qatar Airways is pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our HR Team. This role will be Accountable and responsible to review, analyse, draft and negotiate complex employment contracts across our global jurisdictions, in conjunction with User and Sponsor departments to protect the interests of, and meet the business requirements of, Qatar Airways Group. To support with the development and ongoing review of QR Group policies across the globe. To provide accurate and business-oriented legal advice to Qatar Airways and its subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procedures for administering competition issues in compliance with company policy. Contribute to or influence contractual policies within Human Resources. Review contractual templates from a competition law perspective and from an employment law perspective.
  • Negotiating, drafting and implementing a wide variety of simple and complex commercial agreements and employment agreements.
  • Development and management of strategic contracts in accordance with corporate requirements, supporting legal requirements and procedures to secure and protect the business interests of the company in matters related to contracts. Will become trusted legal and business advisor with regards to HR matters.
  • Develop and implement suggestions to contract policy and procedure revision and improvement.
  • Review QR Group policies across the globe to ensure compliance specific to the local jurisdiction.
  • Provide high quality review, analysis, negotiation and drafting of contracts.
  • Identify issues and determines when the escalation procedure should be started.
  • Resolve any disputes which come up and identifying areas for improvement in company’s contracting processes.
  • Provide legal interpretations on Standard Terms and Conditions of contracts.
  • Guide and support Human Resources on the development of processes and procedures in alignment with QR Compliance Policies.
  • Guide and support Human Resources on the implementation of controls meant to address compliance obligations.
  • Develop the Legal Compliance area on the regulatory change management activities, including the monitoring of new regulations applicable to QR operations.
  • Ensure that in performance of the role, all uses, disclosures and requests of any information (in any form) are done in accordance with data protection principles adopted by the QR Group and are limited to what is reasonably required to accomplish the intended business purposes of the use, disclosure or request.
  • Comply with all relevant company policies and procedures regarding the use, processing, disclosure and security of any information (in any form) and ensure that all staff under my direct supervision are aware of and comply.
  • Consult the Group’s Data Protection Officer in matters related to data protection and privacy as appropriate.
  • Ensure the confidentiality, security and protection of all information handled in the course of duties is maintained at all times from unauthorised access, use, disclosure, disruption, deletion/destruction, corruption, modification, inspection or recording.

Qualifications

We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join our HR Team who can recognize themselves in the points below.

  • Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree or equivalent is essential.
  • Minimum 8 year of relevant experience
  • Strong legal drafting skills.
  • Excellent knowledge in contract and commercial negotiation relating to service and product agreements.
  • Ability to understand complex vendor contracts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office package, particularly MS Word.
  • Keen eye for detail and strong presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of handling complex issues and negotiation.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Should be a self-starter.
  • Should be Flexible in approach, with a “can do” attitude.
  • Contracting and negotiating skills to the highest standard. Proven track record of handling complex issues and negotiation.
  • Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinates skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
  • If you are qualified in a common law jurisdiction that would be an advantage
  • Experience of a multi-cultural environment in contracts management and legal preferred.
  • Experience working in a medium or large sized matrixed/cross-functional environment is a Plus
  • Contracts management experience is required.
