You will lead our studio operations by managing our in-house studio and control room needs while delivering high-quality productions that are vital communication tools for our organization. Your technical expertise and leadership skills will be essential as you oversee live broadcasts, manage studio operations, and ensure technical excellence throughout all productions. This role provides the ideal combination of technical knowledge, creative problem-solving, and team leadership.

• Manage and operate all technical aspects of the studio control room, including video switcher, audio board, graphics systems, and other broadcast equipment during live productions and recordings.
• Assist with directing technical crews during live broadcasts, ensuring smooth execution of production plans while maintaining broadcast standards and quality.
• Develop and implement technical workflows, maintenance schedules, and quality control processes for all studio equipment and systems.
• Assist in managing production budgets, including equipment purchases, maintenance costs, and contract labor expenses.
• Schedule and supervise contract labor, including camera operators, audio engineers, and other technical personnel, while managing their performance during productions.
• Oversee studio equipment inventory, maintenance, and upgrades, ensuring all systems are regularly serviced and updated.
• Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time during live broadcasts and implement contingency plans when necessary.
• Collaborate with creative and video teams to plan technical requirements for upcoming productions and events.
• Manage the technical aspects of multi-camera productions, including camera placement, lighting design, and audio setup.
• Develop and maintain broadcast engineering documentation, including signal flow diagrams, equipment specifications, and maintenance records.
• Train team members on studio equipment operation and safety protocols while fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Manage and maintain data storage solutions for studio productions.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelors degree in Broadcast Engineering, Television Production, or related technical field; equivalent experience/training and 4+ years in studio operations or technical directing.
• Expert knowledge of broadcast studio equipment, including video switchers, audio consoles, routing systems, cameras, and related broadcast technology.
• Proven experience managing live productions and operating professional broadcast equipment in a control room environment.
• Strong understanding of signal flow, video formats, compression, and broadcast standards.
• Experience with broadcast automation systems, graphic systems (e.g., Ross Xpression, Ross Voyager), and video servers.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced broadcast environment.
• Experience in implementing technical workflows, quality control processes, and maintaining broadcast equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live productions.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Management and leadership experience of 5+ years in a studio environment is required.
• Experience with budget management and cost control in a studio facility.
• Strong knowledge of IP-based video systems and IT networking principles.
• Proficiency in broadcast software systems, including production switchers (e.g., Ross Carbonite), audio boards, and playback systems.
• Experience with communication technologies, including streaming platforms and videoconferencing systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required for live events.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Experience with virtual set technology (e.g., Ross Voyager) is a plus
• Knowledge of FCC regulations and broadcast standards.
