About this position:The Talent Acquisition Specialist plays an essential role in sourcing, attracting, and hiring exceptional talent to drive the growth and success of Canadian North. In this role, youll partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, and ensure a smooth and efficient hiring process from start to finish.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Contribute to HR initiatives, supporting the achievement of strategic goals and the delivery of day-to-day HR services.
- Design and execute innovative recruitment strategies to engage top talent through various channels, such as direct sourcing, networking, online job boards, social media, job postings, employee referrals, and professional networks.
- Review resumes and assess candidates to ensure they meet job requirements and align with the company culture.
- Conduct interviews and skill assessments to evaluate candidates qualifications and suitability for specific roles.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to extend job offers and negotiate compensation and employment terms in line with company policies and collective agreements.
- Work with HR and hiring managers to ensure a seamless onboarding process, including offer letters, reference checks, and pre-employment details.
- Participate in onboarding sessions for new employees.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records, recruitment activities, and metrics using the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other recruitment tools.
- Contribute to employer branding initiatives to enhance the company’s reputation as an employer of choice by participating in recruitment events, career fairs, and developing partnerships with community organizations and educational institutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging recruitment technologies, offering recommendations for process improvements.
- Support various HR-related projects as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:- Education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a Talent Acquisition role or similar, in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a unionized setting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of recruitment best practices, sourcing techniques, and candidate assessment methods.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with both hiring managers and candidates.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS, and other recruitment software/tools.
- Committed to continuous improvement, demonstrating initiative, creativity, and enthusiasm.
- Willingness to travel across Canada, including the communities we serve.
- Passion for talent acquisition and dedication to providing an exceptional candidate experience.
- Fluency in Inuktitut is a strong asset.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Pass in accordance with Transport Canada’s Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program.
