Job Description
The Safety Lead is a key role focused on maintaining and continuously improving Bristow Group’s safety across the multi discipline areas of aviation regulation, health, safety and environmental performance in both rotary and unmanned operations
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead all aspects of the Bristow SMS
- Safety Occurrence Report Management support to the AOC Safety Manager(s)
- Assist the Compliance lead in audit planning
- Safety Occurrence Report Risk Assessment support to the AOC nominated persons.
- Ensure the effective investigation of aviation related incidents and near misses, with a focus on preventive and corrective actions, coordinating with HR to ensure effective case management.
- Performance of Compliance Monitoring to ensure effective remedial actions from Safety Investigations
- Performance of Internal Compliance Audits against Regulatory and Industry Standards as identified on the Annual Audit Plan
- Performance of External Supplier Audits against Regulatory and Industry Standards as identified on the Annual Audit Plan
- Co-ordinating with the Compliance lead to ensure management of Non-conformances raised from Audit to ensure effective remedial action within agreed timeframes
- Co-ordinating with the Compliance lead to provide analysis of Non-conformances raised from Audit to identify any adverse trends to support a Risk and Performance Based Audit Plan
- Support and contribution to the Safety Management System Review
- Co-ordinate internal Investigations on behalf of the Safety and Compliance Managers
- Aid the company Emergency Response planning
- Represent UK AOCs on Safety Action Groups
- Work alongside the compliance lead to ensure the collection, analysis and reporting of trends reported through BSAFE, ASRs, GSRs, DGORs, MSRs, accident reports and shared information from other regions.
- Aid the AOCs to meet Ad Hoc tasking requirements to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with the Training Departments to ensure lesson learned are incorporated in future
- Provide actionable information on safety matters to Safety Managers, Accountable Managers, and leadership at all levels
- Ability to travel and support the organisation’s Audit and Safety Meeting requirements
Qualifications
- Desirable - recognized academic qualification undergraduate level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline which includes behavioral sciences and or Human Factors Investigation
- SMS training and experience is essential
- Lead Auditor qualification
- Incident/Accident investigation training and experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Technical Requirements
- Good knowledge of SMS Regulations – Annex 19, Doc 9859 etc.
- Auditor Qualification – AS9100/ISO 9001 or suitable equivalent
- Good knowledge of Civil Aviation, and EASA Regulations
- Experience in performing audits within the Civil and/or Military Aviation environment
- Experience in Safety Management System management oversight
