At Piedmont Airlines, our strength lies in delivering industry-leading service to our customers and airline partners. To maintain our standard of excellence, we are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Workday Payroll Analyst to join our payroll team. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of our payroll processes through expertise in the Workday system. The successful candidate will have five years of experience in payroll processing, with at least three years of Workday payroll experience. The Workday Payroll Analyst will collaborate with various departments to support payroll operations and continuous improvement efforts. This position reports to the Manager, Payroll.
Essential Duties:
Configure Workday payroll modules, including pay components, earning codes, deductions, and pay groups, ensuring they align with company policies and compliance requirements
Manage payroll processing schedules, tax configurations, and payroll calendars within Workday
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for new payroll features, system upgrades, and patches released by Workday
Conduct end-to-end testing of payroll processes, including regular payroll runs, off-cycle payments, and year-end tax processing
Support Payroll Manager in identifying and implementing process improvements within the payroll function
Troubleshoot Workday payroll issues, coordinate with internal teams for system updates, and support testing for upgrades or new functionalities
Identify and resolve system configuration issues uncovered during testing, ensuring payroll accuracy and functionality
Collaborate with IT and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve Workday system issues related to payroll configurations
Participate in payroll system implementation projects, including gathering requirements, developing configurations, and performing functional testing
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, Finance, IT, etc.) to streamline payroll processes through automation and enhanced system configurations
Provide training and guidance to payroll staff on Workday payroll functionalities and system updates
Create user-friendly job aids and training materials related to payroll testing and system navigation
Job Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, Business Administration, or another related field
Five (5) years of experience in payroll processing, with at least three (3) years of Workday Payroll experience
Three years of Workday Payroll configuration and support
Experience with system implementations and change management
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex payroll issues within Workday
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in IT, HR, Accounting, or Finance
Seven (7) years of experience in payroll, including multi-state and union payrolls
Advanced proficiency with the Workday payroll module and reporting capabilities
Experience with process improvement initiatives in payroll operations
Strong knowledge of tax laws, garnishments, and compliance
Proficiency in Workday reporting, Extended Illness Bank (EIBs), and integrations
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)

Starting Rate:
$63,000.00/Annual Salary - 69,000.00/Annual Salary (Based on locale and experience)All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
