We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly adaptable Airborne Research Technician to join our dynamic team.
This role will involve traveling to various research locations to support and conduct atmospheric research through airborne platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with scientific instruments, a passion for atmospheric science, and the ability to work in a team under sometimes challenging conditions.

- Must be able to travel for up to 6 weeks at a time, up to 4 months per year, domestically and/or internationally.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime.
- Some or all of the work in this position description must be performed on-site at UCAR campuses and/or remote field sites that are domestic and/or international.

Key Responsibilities:
Instrumentation Development and Maintenance:
- Design, build, and test specialized electronic circuits and assemblies.
- Create technical documentation and FAA certification materials.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft research instrumentation.
- Install and integrate research equipment on aircraft.
Field Operations:
- Participate in test flights and field deployments.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate research equipment and data systems.
- Provide technical support to field teams.
Laboratory Support:
- Perform instrument bench tests and laboratory calibrations.
- Assist scientists and engineers in instrument maintenance and repair.
