Job Description:
The avionics technician performs maintenance on aircraft avionics components and electrical systems components, such as airborne navigation/communication systems, weather radar, autopilot, compass systems and accessories in accordance with MFG specifications and FAA guidelines.
 
Job Duties:
·Troubleshoots to determine malfunctions on aircraft avionics components and electrical systems components, such as airborne navigation/communication systems, weather radar, autopilot, compass systems and accessories component level.
·Tests and inspects aircraft communications components, navigation components, weather radar, autopilot, compass systems and accessories to MFG specifications.
·Repairs, overhauls and modifies aircraft communication components, navigation components, autopilot and other electrical systems components and accessories to MFG specifications.
·Uses all mandated safety equipment and complies with all safety requirements in accordance with company and government regulations and guidelines.
·Completes all checklists, forms and reports as required in accordance with the company, government and FAA regulations and guidelines.
·Participates in on-the-job training with onsite personnel.
·Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies, using circuit testers, oscilloscopes, or voltmeters.
·Test electrical equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.
·Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
·Keep and maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
·Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies, using hand tools or soldering irons.
·Install machine or equipment replacement parts.
·Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
·Repair worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
·Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft, using hand tools, power tools, or soldering irons.
·Install electrical components, equipment, or systems.
·Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems.
·Test electrical equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.
·Assemble components such as switches, electrical controls, and junction boxes, using hand tools or soldering irons.
·Assemble electrical components, subsystems, or systems.
·Connect components to assemblies such as radio systems, instruments, magnetos, inverters, and in-flight refueling systems, using hand tools and soldering irons.
·Install electrical components, equipment, or systems.
·Lay out installation of aircraft assemblies and systems, following documentation such as blueprints, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
·Lay out work according to specifications.
·Interpret flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
·Analyze test or performance data to assess equipment operation.
·Coordinate work with that of engineers, technicians, and other aircraft maintenance personnel.
·Confer with coworkers to coordinate work activities.
·Responsible to his / her immediate supervisor for the accomplishment of all work assigned to him in accordance with policies, procedures, requirements and specifications established by the Company, applicable government agencies, and the manufacturers as contained in the approved Maintenance Manuals.
·Will perform all work assigned to him in accordance with approved Company maintenance procedures, for recording the work performed, and for assuming responsibility for that work as indicated by his signature.
·Will report immediately to his supervisor any un-airworthy conditions discovered in the performance of his duties.
·Will perform all work assigned to him / her in a safe manner and will report immediately to his/her supervisor any unsafe conditions discovered.
·Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Managers.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
·Must be able to read and write English.
·Must pass airport security background checks and travel for work as required.
·Must have Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
·He / She must hold the appropriate licenses.
·Shall possess the knowledge and ability necessary to perform routine and other work required.
·Maintains adequate knowledge to understand and follow the repair facility’s inspection procedures manual.
·Exhibits positive, courteous behavior with customers, businesses and co-workers.
·Assists co-workers and those in other departments to successfully perform job tasks and functions when necessary.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
·College or University 2/4-year degree preferred
·Must have a Current Valid Driver’s License
·Must have a valid FAA A&P License
·Experience in analyzing and developing troubleshooting plans is a must.
·Experienced in one or more of the following system disciplines:
oPowerplant; JT9, CF6-80A & CF6-80C2 engine experience.
oAvionics to include system diagnostic troubleshooting, wiring checks, pitot-static fault isolation, auto-flight systems, etc.
oAircraft Pneumatic systems
oAircraft Hydraulic systems
oAircraft Electrical systems
oAircraft ECS systems
·Must have at least eighteen (18) months of practical experience operation as an Licensed A&P.
