Reporting to the Avionics Manager, the Avionics AME Apprentice will assist with servicing, inspecting, repairing, and performing maintenance on aircraft avionics systems while learning and developing the necessary skills to obtain their AME License with an “E” rating. Under supervision, the apprentice will perform routine and non-routine tasks to ensure that avionics work is completed in compliance with applicable airworthiness standards.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities- Assist in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on avionics systems and components
- Learn to operate calibrated test equipment to conduct functional and operational tests
- Aid in troubleshooting, repairs, rebuilds, installations, modifications, and testing of avionics systems
- Help maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Learn to understand and apply safety procedures and avionics manuals
- Marshal and tow aircraft as needed
- Actively participate in the Company’s Safety Management System
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
- Demonstrated interest in obtaining an AME License with an “E” rating
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
Working Conditions- Physically able to perform all listed job duties
- Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
- Work in a shop environment with full range of movement including, but not limited to, bending, sitting, standing, lifting to a maximum of 50lbs, pushing and pulling daily
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions
- Various shifts at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airline
