Job Title:      Avionics Estimator
Salary Range:   40-55hr
Location:      Wilmington, DE
POSITION SUMMARY:


•   Calls on vast technical experience to organize and prepare material and competitive labor cost estimates to determine total direct cost to satisfy requirements for proposals that meet customer requirements and company cost/schedule requirements.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


•   Supports bid requests primarily for but not limited to avionics, electrical systems and equipment modifications, cabin management, communications and in flight entertainment systems upgrades from customers and internal sales representatives.


•   Communicate with the sales department and occasionally directly with customers to determine their needs and recommend solutions and or specific products or systems.


•   With thorough knowledge of the type aircraft, the affected avionics systems and peripheral electrical systems and the application of the certification requirements for the customers base of operations, provide quotation of labor and material costs to accomplish the task.
•   Use internal quoting resources to establish if there is historical guidance that will help define or validate the proposal labor and material estimates.


•   Work with external and internal engineering resources to communicate the scope of the project and determine the engineering and certification resources required.


•   Using prescribed estimating standards and previous personal experience, analyze the entire work scope and coordinate with all internal discipline managers to establish and agree upon the required labor hours and a competitive downtime to accomplish the work scope.


•   Prepares comprehensive engineering, material and labor cost summaries in support of proposal efforts.


•   Provides any necessary support or rationale to justify final estimates necessary to resolve inquiries or to assist in finalizing any contract negotiations as required.


•   Reviews all estimates with individual discipline managers and justifies both material and labor estimates


•   Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:


•   Bachelor‘s degree in Finance, Statistics, Business or an equivalent degree and/or combination of education and experience.


•   Computer literate with advanced knowledge of Excel and Access.


•   Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively convey information accurately.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


•   Ability to work in CorrPlus, Corridor or equivalent such applications.
•   Ability to comprehend engineering drawings and technical manuals is required.


•   The successful candidate will have at least 10-12 years of experience working as an Avionics Estimator, and/or Avionics Technician and/or Engineer in a FAR Part 25 Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) type environment and/or Completion Center Environment.


•   Additional experience in customer support and/or a sales role will be beneficial.

•   Candidates should have solid relationships with key avionics manufacturers and be able to leverage those relationships in order to provide the best possible competitive advantage for Company and our customers.


•   Candidates should be thoroughly familiar with existing and next generation avionics products and systems and how they perform in the current as well as future global airspace environment.


•   Candidates should have thorough understanding of FAA and EASA certification procedures and requirements applicable to FAR Part 25 aircraft.


•   Candidates should have demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with creative solutions that add value to our customers experience with Company.


•   Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.


•   Position requires a strong commitment to retaining competency with the continuously evolving technical and regulatory changes of the industry.
