Job Description:

Responsibilities: This position reports directly to the Department Manager and Director of Maintenance.
Repair and modify aircraft Avionics and electrical components of moderate difficulty.
Maintain and repair aircraft instruments, communications, radar, autopilot, navigation systems and components.
Utilize technical knowledge of avionics and electrical systems in determining equipment malfunctions and apply the required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.


Employ technical knowledge to solve problems by interpreting technical documentation such as manufacturers’ manuals, wire diagrams, ICAs, MELs and FAA regulations to return the aircraft to an airworthy condition.
Ability to work with and receive technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.
Exercise good judgment in working with people in a team environment as well as in aircraft maintenance and safety practices.

Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience
Minimum qualifications are:
High school graduate or equivalent
Must possess a FCC License or NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) Certification or be able to attain either within the first year of employment.
Must be able to demonstrate competent use of the basic tools of the trade within the first six (6) months.
Experience should consist of an understanding of aviation principles and theory of flight, completion of an accredited Avionics Technician Training program or equivalent US Military training.
Some experience with troubleshooting, dispatch requirements, tools, ground support equipment, computer skills, technical reports, forms, manuals, catalogs, and work
practices in an actual line or hangar maintenance environment.
Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 180 days annually at 60-day intervals.


Preferred Requirements:
Two years’ experience in aircraft maintenance.


Essential Job Functions and Skills:
Avionics Basic
Exhibits the ability to learn basic avionics system facts and aircraft system operating principles and applies this knowledge toward maintaining assigned aircraft.
Removes and replaces components and performs functional checks of these components.
Performs troubleshooting of the aircraft systems.
Participates in phase and special inspections to include service bulletins and airworthiness directives.
Expresses ideas and thoughts effectively in verbal and written form, exhibits good listening and comprehension, and keeps others informed and uses appropriate communication methods.

Avionics Daily
Performs all Maintenance IAW AC 43.13 -1B/2B and applicable Manufactures Maintenance Manuals.
Maintains knowledge of and complies with FAA regulations, company procedures, the GMM and MEL.
Have a basic understanding of FAA standards 14 CFR Part 91, 125 and 145.
Inventory, maintain, and order aircraft equipment and supplies, as directed by a supervisor or manager in order to maintain aircraft and aircraft Avionics equipment.
Assists with towing aircraft, refuel, defuel, pre and post flight inspection of aircraft.
Prepares written documentations such as trip reports, corrective actions, and other company reports with clear and concise thoughts, proper sentence structure, punctuation and grammar.
Familiar with operation of powered and non-powered ground support equipment, ensuring equipment is serviced in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

Avionics Knowledge & Proficiency
Knowledgeable of system component locations and proper removal/installation procedures.
Knowledgeable of system information contained in applicable maintenance manuals, identifies system basic facts and principles and their relationships to system discrepancies in a timely manner,
Gathers system information skillfully, develops alternative solutions, resolves problems in early stages.
Familiar with applicable regulations and works well in group problem solving situations.
Exhibits experience and at least minimum proficiency in required job skills and knowledge.
Exhibits ability to learn basic avionics system facts and aircraft system operating principles and apply this knowledge towards maintaining assigned aircraft, keeps abreast of current developments.
Requires minimal supervision, displays understanding of how job relates to others, and uses resources effectively.
Successfully completes all training required for job level and assigned airframe.
Maintains a basic understanding of the Avionics systems, components, and electrical system of the aircraft.
Pursues training and development opportunities and continues to build knowledge and expertise.
Shares knowledge and expertise with others.
Maintains minimum proficiency in required job skills and knowledge.
 

Additional Essential Job Functions and Skills

Satisfactorily live and work for extended and irregular hours, in a variety of environmental conditions including hot and cold temperatures (< 32 degrees F and > 90 degrees F), high elevations, dusty conditions and in stressful situations.

Capable of pulling 170 lb. load 50 feet on flat terrain within 1.0 minute; capable of moving over flat terrain 1.0 mile with backpack weighing 35 lbs. within 15 minutes; capable of completing 10 squats and 10 presses while holding a 20 lb. weight in each hand.

Able to routinely lift 75 pounds, climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop frequently in confined spaces.
