Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Journeyman Electronics Technician to join our team. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment that uses electronic and computer systems to control hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical subsystems and components. The position offers a core shift from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment using electronic and computer systems.
  • Diagnose problems based on observations, deviations from manufacturers specifications, and problem reports from shop staff.
  • Dismantle machinery to access, inspect, repair, or replace defective components.
  • Test machines following repair to ensure operation within manufacturers specifications and Government requirements.
  • Replace instrument and control components.
  • Build and wire AC/DC circuits.
  • Repair electronic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and install PLC systems, pressure transducers, and motor controllers.
  • Take test readings using instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Work independently or as part of a technical team.
Essential Skills
  • Experience reading schematics.
  • Experience hand soldering (certificate of training/education preferred).
  • Experience troubleshooting and installing electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in using multimeters and other testing equipment.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the above duties.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Mechanical fabricating experience, such as working with various hand tools and panel fabrication.
  • Experience with basic shop equipment, including band saw, lathe, and mill.
  • Education/Certifications in the Electronics Field.

Work Environment

The Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance, and Engineering (TFOME) team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in aeronautics, space power, and propulsion test facilities. This position will be in the Propulsion Systems Lab (PSL). Core shift hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. During testing, candidates may have to rotate to 2nd/3rd shift hours, with a 7.5 shift differential on 2nd shift and a 10 differential on 3rd shift. This is a 9-month contract-to-hire position.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.11 - $31.11/hr.
