The opportunity
The Boeing MQ28 - Ghost Bat - is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. Developed in partnership with the Royal Australian Air Force, it is the first military combat aircraft to be designed, manufactured and assembled in Australia in 50 years.
We are seeking a skilled Lab Technicianto join our dynamic Laboratory Operations team.
Our laboratory environment is designed to support rapid technology advancements and facilitates the development, integration, and formal verification and validation (V&V) activities of the simulated MQ-28 system prior to instrumented ground and flight tests.
As a Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in the assembly, testing, and technical troubleshooting of hardware and aircraft systems within our lab environment. You will ensure that all necessary hardware, software, and tools are viable and functioning properly.
The role is based in Brisbane.
As a Lab Technician you will:
- Assembly Support: Assist in the assembly of hardware and electronic products on the production line, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Hardware setup and configuration: Install, maintain and set up hardware components, including servers, switches, routers, and other networking devices. Ensure compatibility and proper functioning of hardware components
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical support to personnel, addressing questions and troubleshooting issues related to assembly processes.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and collaborate with the team to implement best practices that improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections and tests of hardware and ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, including work instructions, quality checks and any deviations from standard procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with MQ-28 Engineering teams and other and quality assurance to resolve technical challenges and ensure alignment on production goals.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all production activities comply with safety regulations and organisational policies.
To be considered for the role you will have:
- Experience in Avionics hardware support, preferably in an ICT lab test environment
- Proven experience as a technician or similar role in software development and IT operations.
- Strong understanding of electrical components, assembly techniques, and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and support colleagues in achieving production goals.
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies (highly regarded)
- Experience with Autonomous Systems projects (highly regarded)
- Experience with aerospace and / or Defence projects (highly regarded).
