About the Role
Are you passionate about aviation safety, risk assessment, and air traffic operations? We are seeking a Senior I Scientist/Engineer/Systems Analyst (Safety Specialist) to lead and facilitate Safety Management System (SMS) panels for aviation simulation studies at the Aviation Facilities and Test Integration Lab (AFTIL), located at the William J. Hughes Technical Center—the FAA’s premier research and testing facility for aviation safety, air traffic modernization, and airport operations.
What You’ll Do
- Facilitate SMS panels for aviation simulation studies at AFTIL.
- Develop CSA and SRMD documents identifying safety risks and mitigation strategies.
- Analyze ATCT operational conditions, focusing on line-of-sight obstructions.
- Collaborate with ATC specialists, sponsors, and data collectors to compile comprehensive reports.
- Ensure compliance with FAA SMS processes and complete required refresher training every two years.
