As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role

In this role, you’ll be an in-house Assessment Consultant responsible for delivering all stages of the consultancy cycle – from assessment project scoping, design, delivery, and evaluation, as guided by the British Airways assessment strategy.

You will work closely with the Assessment Manager to address BA’s needs in recruitment assessment for both volume campaigns (e.g. Cabin Crew, Pilots, Cadets, Customer Experience Representative, Ground Operations) and individual strategic senior hire roles.

You’ll have the opportunity to build relationships with people across the entire BA business to deliver innovative, practical, and fair assessment projects which aim to provide positive a candidate experience.

This is a fast-paced and dynamic role where your individual expertise, guidance, and ideas will directly shape how assessments look in our business – presenting an opportunity to be a key part of the British Airways Assessment Team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver the implementation and evaluation of innovative assessment projects which enhance the candidate journey, across both high volume and individual senior roles
  • Assessment centre exercise design, interview design, test implementation, and competency framework design
  • Balance multiple priorities, plan ahead, and re-prioritise work plans according to candidate, colleague, and organisational needs
  • Support improvement and innovation initiatives as guided by the Assessment Manager
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and hiring managers to understand assessment needs and objectives, and then deliver these
  • Provide best practice guidance to in-house recruitment specialists and line managers, challenging others appropriately when needed. This includes, but is not limited to, assessment objectivity, validity, reliability, fairness, and reasonable adjustments
  • Contribute to supplier activity including maximising value of existing assessments and supporting the Assessment Manager to introduce new assessments from external suppliers into BA, including Applicant Tracking System integrations
  • Track effectiveness and fairness of assessment methods through SPSS data analysis
  • Delivery of test administration using online assessment platforms when required
  • Provide training to assessors on assessment techniques, protocols, and tools when required

What we’d like you to bring to British Airways

  • Proactive relationship builder with stakeholders across all organisational levels
  • An inquisitive and practical mindset
  • Comfortable operating at a technical level of detail
  • Active listener, keen to understand others’ needs and requirements
  • Organised and structured with a varied portfolio of projects
  • Clear and adaptable communicator with stakeholders of all organisational levels
  • Driven to deliver high quality results
  • Comfortable handling highly sensitive data with discretion and confidentiality
  • Process-oriented, ensuring tasks are completed in line with British Airways and BPS policies
  • Being an ambassador for British Airways and for the aviation industry
