Collins Aerospace is looking for an Associate Director Embedded Systems Manager. The Digital Controls group is looking for a leader with embedded systems expertise and the ability to lead/supervise a team of engineers with varied backgrounds of both hardware and software experience. The position will manage a real time safety critical Embedded Systems team for both the Environmental Controls and Engine Controls product lines.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team (10-15) of software and hardware systems engineers to define the embedded architecture discipline of our controls products
- The embedded systems team will define the system and associated allocations for the hardware, software, and firmware interfaces
- Supports the decomposition, allocation, validation, and verification of platform level system requirements
- Actively participates in the project planning process with a focus on conceptual design and architecture
- Project planning to include requirements compliance, task definition, resources, completion time, capital requirements, risks, etc.
- Understands the development life cycle and processes using model-based development
- Improve the processes, methods and organizational health of the digital controls team specific to embedded systems
- Develop and mentor engineering associates with a strong customer centric culture empowered through trust
- Works effectively with various engineering functions/disciplines; hardware, software, firmware, mechanical, validation & verification, manufacturing, etc.
- Balances the responsibilities of sustaining and new product development projects
- Participates in risk identification reviews
- Makes significant contribution to their team by applying their discipline knowledge
- Works with limited guidance
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
- 10+ years of electronics/controls product development experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Proficiency in embedded computing systems/architectures.
- Experiencing managing and mentoring a team of professionals.
- Experience with strategic & resource planning
- Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities
- Proven ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize processes
- Experience with Control System principles
- Experience with RTCA DO-178C, DO-331, DO-254, and DO-297 or other relevant safety critical development guidance
- Experience in developing bare metal safety critical software systems
- Experience with development tools like ClearCase/Clearquest, Polarian ALM, Polyspace, Coverity, and GitLab
- Experience with operating systems like Wind River VxWorks, DeOs, and LynxSecure
- Experience with programming languages like Python, C, Ada, and assembly

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
