Job Description:

Contract Type: Government Contract

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 0830-1430

STI is dedicated to supporting the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) by providing expert Engineering Technicians to enhance the operational readiness and maintenance of submarine equipment, specifically the Towed Array Handling System (TAHS). We are seeking motivated individuals with a strong background in engineering support to join our team.

Responsibilities:

Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA), Casualty Report (CASREP)

  • Provide technical assistance and industrial support to evaluate, troubleshoot, test, repair, and provide oversight for TAHS equipment on submarines.
    • Provide technical oversight for towed array on-load/off-load evolutions related to TAHS.
  • Perform TB-16 stowage tube and guide tube inspections for TAHS variants.
  • Offer technical and logistical assistance via telephone, email, chat, and naval messages for both deployed and local submarines.
  • Conduct onboard maintenance training for ship’s force personnel to improve proficiency in the operation and maintenance of TAHS equipment.
  • Document visits with a written Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR) and TAVR worksheet data.
  • Enter FTA and maintenance data into relevant databases (e.g., Fleet Technical Support (FTS), Time Attendance and Reporting (TAR), Regional Maintenance Automated Information System (RMAIS)).

Total Ship Readiness Assessment (TSRA), Combat Systems Assessment (CSA)

  • Support TSRA for the towed systems portion, including the Pre/Post-Deployment Maintainability Assessment (PDMA).
  • Provide management and coordination support for Total Ship Readiness Plan (TSRP), including preparation and development of briefs, presentations, and follow-up activities.

NAVSEA Special Towed Systems Support & Test Equipment (S&TE)

  • Maintain and track PMS4011 assigned towed systems special S&TE for technical assistance, installation, certification, inspection, and assessment.
  • Ensure inventory control and deliver periodic NAVSEA S&TE calibration reports and fabricate, procure, repair, refurbish, maintain, and calibrate special S&TE.
  • Pack, ship, and store special S&TE as required, and conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic filter rigs.

Block Update (BUD)/Engineering Change Installation (ECI)

  • Provide onboard technical assistance for conducting ship-checks and AIT/modernization installs for various submarine classes (e.g., Los Angeles and Virginia classes).

Towed Systems Support & Test Equipment (S&TE) and Cable Support

  • Maintain and track towed systems S&TE, including inventory control and fabrication/maintenance of cables, connectors, pins, and related materials.

Towed Systems AIT and Modernization Industrial Support

  • Generate and submit Formal Work Packages (FWP) in accordance with NAVSEA standards and procurement processes, including providing necessary quality system plans and certifications.

Rim Drive Drum Dual Groove Pair Surface Restoration

  • Perform surface refurbishment to specified tolerances outlined in NAVSEA documentation.

Pinch Roller Assembly (PRA) and Tension Belt Drogue Deployer (TBDD)

  • Restore 9 full sets of PRA and 6 full sets of TBDD annually, with maintenance and inspections.

PRA and TBDD Maintenance & Inspection Support

  • Provide engineering and technical support for OA-9070 pinch roller assemblies and TBDD assemblies during pier-side or Selected Restricted Availability (SRA) — adhering to specific timelines for refurbishment and reports.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Technician V:
    • Specialized Experience: 6 years in operation, maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of submarine mechanical/electrical/electronic systems.
    • General Experience: Minimum 8 years of technical experience in design, installation, and testing of systems.
  • Engineering Technician IV:
    • Specialized Experience: 4 years in operation, maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of submarine systems.
    • General Experience: Minimum 6 years of technical experience in design, installation, and testing of systems.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with OA-9070 A/B/E Variants, OK series variants, and mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to implement corrective actions efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with ship personnel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform tasks onboard submarines, including navigating confined spaces.
