Job Description:

Morson are currently recruiting for a Chief Engineer to join our Aerospace and Defence client based in Leicester.  The Chief Engineer will work in collaboration with the VP of Programmes, Programme Managers and Chief Technical Officer to lead on all technical and engineering guidance to support the project team in delivering our various programmes. You will have an extensive background in engineering with demonstratable experience in successfully defining and leading the delivery of engineering projects.

As Chief Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and motivating engineering teams to generate engineering solutions that meet the Customer needs
  • Being the first signatory for formal engineering documentation according to company processes (COD, DAOS etc.)
  • Ensuring the delivery of all engineering aspects of the programme whilst meeting the governance required within the business.
  • Act as Design/Technical authority for allocated programmes and attend customer meetings

Person Specification

The Chief Engineer will develop and manage effective relationships across the breadth of the company and its customers and have the confidence to technically lead cross discipline project teams. The successful candidate will be expected to bring maturity and credibility when engaging with customers, senior managers and stakeholders. We expect the incoming Chief Engineer to be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to high levels of accuracy

Knowledge:

  • Experience in a similar role within an engineering discipline, preferably aerospace
  • An understanding of safety and airworthiness principles
  • An understanding of air vehicle systems and sub-systems
  • MEng engineering degree or equivalent
  • Practical experience of leading and/or managing a technical systems programme
  • Strong technical background within engineering, ideally to include requirements capture, system design, integration & test, qualification and certification
