The Communications & Engagement Coordinator reports to the Engagement, Communication and Marketing (ECM) Lead and directly supports initiatives primarily in support of KF Aerospace and the company’s comprehensive and varied civilian and military business objectives. 

Note: This is a one-year position.

 

LOCATION

This position is based in Kelowna, British Columbia, with occasional (less than 5) travel within Canada. 

A hybrid-work schedule with 2 days working from home is possible after passing probation. 

  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media (Digital & Organic) – Under the direction of the ECM Lead, drives our social media/digital engagement strategy and executes company social media postings and 

  • Writes, manages, and designs KF social media posts, supporting recruitment, community relations and business development 
  • Responds to social media questions; helps promote industry and community partnerships online
  • Tracks KPIs and reports

Photo/Video Production – Are you a photography buff? Savvy with social media videos? You’re in luck! The Coordinator will serve as the primary in-house photographer/video coordinator for the company, regularly capturing photos of incredible aircraft on the ground from up close and in the air.

  • Provides regular, ongoing photography services from the Kelowna main facility; tracking project progress and championing our people and teams who make it happen
  • Edits photos for various formats (web, social media, print ads, etc)
  • Provides photography at major events on-site and at operation bases in Canada (some travel required)
  • Shoots internal update videos and provides basic editing; helps coordinate video production with external vendors
  • Curates a photo/video asset system and helps grow our community of “Plane Spotters” – internal and external amateur photographers

Internal Communications – the Coordinator will help foster a positive company culture by helping communicate critical information and celebrating employees and company achievements on the company intranet platform and the company’s digital bulletin board system 

Website Administration– the Coordinator helps administer the KF corporate website(s); making changes, updates and occasionally, writing/posting blog stories and articles

Graphic Design – The Coordinator executes basic graphic design for daily needs including social media graphics, web stories and digital/print ads. 

  • We provide you with the tools, assets, and brand guidelines – you apply your creativity to make engaging graphic content and designs for internal and external use, including social media, digital/print ads, marketing material, presentations, and internal communications
  • Play an important role as a key voice in helping guide larger design projects to completion
  • Experience with Canva and/or Adobe products is an asset. 

Additional priorities and competencies:

  • Administration – Help organize, track and administer ongoing communication and marketing priorities; coordinate responses to stakeholders, customers and internal audiences with flexibility and attention to detail
  • Trade Shows, Career Fairs & Special Events – Development of materials & presentations for key events; social media reporting (occasional attendance and travel could be required)

 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Four-year university degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or Journalism with 1 year of relevant experience; OR
  • One-to-Two-year certificate or diploma in Digital Marketing or Public Relations with 3 years of relevant experience. 
  • Experience with Photography/Videography with camera and smartphone with editing skills 
  • Experience with websites, social media, and Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) an asset
  • Proficient with at least one of the following: Canva, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Publisher or Photoshop is required  
  • Strong writing skills is required 
  • Must be highly motivated and self-disciplined
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills are required
  • Experience using Google tools (Analytics, Adwords) an asset
  • Don’t have to be aviation buff (but it helps!) 
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn critical for this role
