Design & Structures Engineer
Join our Design and Structures team, responsible for handling structural damage, repairs, modifications, and ensuring continued airworthiness on our single-aisle Airbus fleet. As a Structures Subject Matter Expert, you’ll manage structural repair files for End of Lease (EOL) aircraft, attend off-site inspections, and resolve queries with lessors. You’ll ensure Service Bulletin (SB) and Airworthiness Directive (AD) compliance, and advise on cabin interiors, livery, and safety equipment. Additionally, you’ll provide on-call support for front-line operations and contribute to safety investigations, driving easyJet’s commitment to excellence and safety in the skies.
What you’ll be doing:
As part of the Structures team, you will play a key role in managing aircraft End of Lease (EOL) programmes, providing expertise for in-service damage and rectification. You will coordinate with Maintenance Control to minimise operational impact from structural defects and deliver 24/7 Part 21 standby cover. Working under easyJet’s Design Organisation Approval, you’ll ensure compliance with all relevant procedures and liaise with Type Certificate Holders and third-party Design Organisations on technical and commercial matters. The role involves UK and international travel, sometimes at short notice, to support Aircraft On Ground (AOG) events and EOL inspections, and you’ll also provide support to the Fleet Engineering Part M / Part CAMO function.
What you’ll need to do the role:
The ideal candidate will have experience working within an EASA/CAA Part 21 Design Organisation Approval. A strong understanding of aircraft metallic and composite structures is essential, along with a detailed knowledge of Part 21, CS-25, and other airworthiness regulations. You should hold a Professional Aircraft Engineering Qualification (e.g., degree, HNC) or have completed a recognised Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship. Proficiency in design documentation, equipment approvals, and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness is required. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as well as intermediate to advanced MS Office and AMOS experience. Familiarity with AutoCAD is desirable but not essential.
