SALARY RANGE: $59,000 - $107,000*

* Depending upon experience

SUMMARY:

Assist in the design, specification, vendor selection, purchase, building, debugging and resolution of production-related problems on all pattern equipment and tooling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain awareness of the latest die/pattern construction technology for incorporation into the design and specification of patterns under repair or construction, updating pattern facilities and to accommodate new processes to improve productivity.
  • Requisition die/pattern and tooling work with complete specifications so that sources know what is required and expected.
  • Track sample castings, initiating corrections and adjustments required in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with customers and the Sales Department on the status of pattern and tooling work.
  • Communicate with customers to guide part designs towards increased castability.
  • Communicate with customers during concurrent engineering sessions.
  • Develop and maintain current pattern and tooling specifications.
  • Audit new tooling and rework of tooling by pattern shop personnel to ensure specifications are within documents standards.
  • Attend Sample, New Part Introduction, and Design Review meetings.
  • Requisition part-specific inspection and process gauges.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with all applicable safety requirements and policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
  • Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety, and health evaluations and programs.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas of facility.
  • *Perform all physical functions of position: standing, stooping, bending, sitting, walking, twisting, kneeling, turning, and lifting of materials up to 35 lbs.
  • Meet established attendance standards.
  • Work overtime as applicable.
  • Must report any work-related injury or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent
  • Fluent in CAD modeling software such as SolidWorks, Catia, or Unigraphics
  • Superior skills in GD&T and drawing interpretation
  • Familiar with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) like Autodesk CFD and Moldflow
  • Familiarity with casting solidification simulation using ProCAST a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, twist, turn, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
