Position Summary

The Designated Station Trainer (DST) reports to the Manager of Aircraft Maintenance and delivers on the job (OJT) and classroom training to JetBlue’s Technical Operations Crewmembers. Training will occur on all shifts and include Hangar/Line safety, aircraft systems and qualification recurrent training. The DST will provide training to Technicians, Aircraft Support Technicians (ASTs) and Apprentices.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Facilitate classroom and on the job training (OJT)

  • Provide Hangar/Line safety training

  • Facilitate aircraft systems OJT training

  • Conduct Respirator Fit training

  • Perform Run/Taxi Recurrent training for specific fleets

  • Conduct MINT seat OJT

  • Support ASTs and Apprentices as needed

  • Conduct Extended Twin Engine Operations (ETOPS) qualification training

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma

  • Three (3) years of diversified experience in aircraft maintenance

  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License

  • Ability to drive tugs, trucks, taxi aircraft, lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor and/or other maintenance vehicles

  • Ability to communication effectively; in both oral and written communication

  • Ability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop frequently in confined spaces

  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment

  • Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles and aircraft

  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standards

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge

  • Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)

  • Must possess valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Five (5) years of A320/E190 maintenance experience

  • One (1) year of Leadership Experience

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent communicator and interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail and willingness to settle for nothing short of excellence

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Crewmember Expectations:

  • Regular attendance and punctuality

  • Able to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

  • Able to maintain a professional appearance

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))

Equipment:

  • Computer and other office equipment

  • Operate lift trucks, snorkel lift, boom lift and tractor after attending training

  • Issued reflective safety vest and ear protection

  • Ability to use handheld two way radios, headsets and/or phone

Work Environment:

  • Live maintenance environment

  • Hangar maintenance environment

  • Traditional Office Environment

  • Work may be outdoors with seasonal weather

  • Ability to work in elevated areas

Physical Effort

  • Position requires strenuous physical work involving objects in excess of seventy (70) to one hundred (100) pounds. (Very Heavy)

Compensation:   

  • The base pay range for this position starts at $85,280.00. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
