Digital product designers are champions of both the brand and the user, working to an overall annual product vision – including contributing to the business’s long-term vision for the digital experience – and quarterly planning cycles of agile delivery.

The Digital product designers will work collaboratively with both product and creative designers in the broader Creative team, to jointly share learning, push standards and seek innovation, ensuing the brand identity is flawlessly implemented, and user experiences are seamless from touchpoint to touchpoint.

Some of your key responsibilities as our Digital Product Designer will be:

Brand-building through design
  • Work with the Creative Team as a whole to play an influential role in brand identity, visual design and implementation of the brand narrative
Lead on user and brand experience
  • Deliver a step change in the user experience of Virgin Atlantic digital products, championing the user and the brand within scrum teams and with wider business stakeholders – for instance in sprint reviews.
  • Design interactions that put usability first, to create frictionless, pleasurable and unique experiences
  • Accessible design by default, abiding to WCAG2.1AA
Develop and embed new processes
  • Support the wider design team in developing better processes and establishing digital design practice across Virgin Atlantic. Work with Product Owners to ensure that products are conceived and designed in the right way

In addition to the above, we are looking for our successful candidate to demonstrate the following:
  • Experience of designing and delivering high-quality digital experiences, ideally in an agile environment, obtained either in-house or at an agency
  • Experience across the spectrum of product design, including running and interpreting user research, prototyping and testing solutions, designing interfaces, and delivering high-fidelity visual designs for development. Different designers will have different strengths, but a grounding in all the relevant skills is crucial for this role (essential)
  • Good commercial sense, with an ability to understand and balance business, design and user needs, and to ensure that design solutions have a measurable benefit to the business
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience of influencing and persuading others
  • Evidence of leading best in class brand standards and being able to both implement, and enhance, digital style guides for a seamless brand experience across touchpoints
  • Excellent design and prototyping skills in Figma are essential
  • Hds-on knowledge of Design Systems and Pattern Libraries
  • Good working knowledge of WCAG2.1AA accessibility standard with understanding of WCAG2.2AA
  • Knowledge of interaction design principles
  • Front-end web development skills are beneficial but not essential
