The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Electronic Flight Control Systems (EFCS) Engineer with design, development, integration and test experience to work on development of Vehicle Management System (VMS) for new Fly by Wire Rotorcraft.  Work will be performed at the Boeing Philadelphia supporting Boeing Phantom Works, Vertical Lift, and other business units.  Candidates will support or potentially lead development and integration activities for Boeing rotary wing programs. This Level 5 position is located in Ridley Park, PA.

Position Responsibilities

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Understand aircraft input signal processing, redundancy management, system monitoring and control
  • Defining Critical system and software Architecture, including redundancy of computing, sensors and digital busses using Fault Tree Analyses and System requirements
  • Flight Control Components hardware (HW) and software (SW) system-level verification and validation testing including hardware design, integration and qualification
  • Develop requirements for the Vehicle Management System (VMS) test assets
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Perform hardware root-cause analysis and support overall system integration anomalies
  • Work with a variety of airplane analog sensors (Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDT), Inertial Sensors, Air Data Sensors, etc.)
  • Work with a variety of aircraft actuators (Hydraulic, Electric)

Basic Qualifications(Required Skills / Experience): 

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Experience with the design, development, and integration of complex aircraft electronic flight control hardware and software systems or subsystems
  • Ability to perform system design engineering within a diverse and multidisciplinary engineering team

Preferred Qualifications(Desired Skills / Experience): 

  • Understanding of aircraft input signal processing, redundancy management, system monitoring and control

Typical Education / Experience:

Education / experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
