Position Summary

The Precision Fluidics Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation is a leading global supplier of Nitrous Oxide Delivery systems used in the dental and medical professions. We also produce miniature fluidic components and system solutions integral to medical and analytical instrumentation.  This position focuses on our Nitrous Oxide delivery systems and associated products, enhancing existing products, and supporting lifecycle management of those products.  This position also supports new product development through design verification testing, and fixture and process validation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Modifies existing products to enhance functionality for new applications.  Utilizes knowledge of systems and works directly with sales and spaneting to determine product performance requirements.  Works with team members on product development projects, within budget and with pertinent personnel to attain project goals.
  • Plans and Executes fixture and process validation for new and existing products; works with new product development team to create verification and validation protocols, execute testing, and write detailed and summary reports that become part of design controls and the design history file.
  • Participates in the maintenance and upkeep of SOP’s as pertains to fixture and process validation.
  • Defines product performance standards and product acceptance standards using knowledge of systems and laboratory testing equipment and procedures.  Determines disposition of non-conforming material and reviews Engineering Change Requests/Engineering Change Orders for accuracy and validity using engineering judgment and knowledge
  • Contributes to engineering related regulatory requirements, including work on design controls content (test protocols, test reports, design inputs/outputs, etc.).  Also, includes participation in hazard and risk analysis, FMEA, Key Characteristics feature/function identification, and capability analysis.
  • Identifies opportunities for product improvements and cost out through evaluation of manufacturing practices and assembly methods.  Utilizes CAD software to develop product improvements.  Performs cost analyses to justify changes, and coordinates activities of multiple disciplines to implement the changes.  
  • Performs root cause analysis on defective products using engineering principles and knowledge of manufacturing processes. Determine root cause using statistical methods (e.g., Design of Experiments (DOE), SPC). Modifies existing products to resolve quality problems, and coordinates activities of multiple disciplines to implement a solution.
  • Interprets and validates test results for accuracy and precision.  Ensures conformance to product qualification procedures and parameters to achieve customer and product reliability and safety standards.  May utilize and interpret predictive models to simulate and verify design concepts         

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology and 3-5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Good math skills, and familiarity with personal computer and CAD software required. Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred. Prefer lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, project management, Medical Device/FDA, FMEA, exposure to formal problem-solving methodology, and quality systems experience. A Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering will be a plus.
  • Candidates with a Medical Device background and in-depth knowledge of medical device development standards & regulations (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, 21 CFR 820, MDD/MDR) will be highly desirable. 
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience executing fixture and process validation utilizing IQ/OQ/PQ methodology/process
  • Ability to effectively communicate status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision.  Responsive to inquiries from other engineering and business teams.
  • Familiarity with MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) systems, including bills of material, item master, routings, etc.
  • This position is exposed to moving equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  This position requires minimal travel.
