Job Description:

Morson is delighted to be working in partnership with a market leading Aerospace organisation, to recruit an Engineering Manager for an initial 6 month duration. The role would involve hybrid working with 3 days a week onsite in Bristol and 2 days working from home. As the role has been deemed Inside IR35, we can offer an hourly rate of 85.77 Per hour through an Umbrella Company or 65 Per Hour PAYE for the successful candidate.

Key aspects of the Engineering Manager role include,

  • Lead the development of the Engineering Management Plan and the Engineering Assurance Management Plan in response to the formation of the Joint Design Authority (JDA) and keep up to date using a defined review cycle
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Joint Design Authority Technical Governance Policy, ensuring the delivery and secure storage of the technical governance outputs
  • Provide assurance that the developing Technical Risk Management arrangements will reflect the current and future levels of technical risk within the programme
  • Management & integration of multi-disciplined engineering teams; leadership of engineering resources, delivery of packages of  work/services, involving new products and/or complex upgrades, utilising new and existing technologies, requiring multiple interfaces with customers/suppliers or partners.
  • Delivery of projects to meet customer and contractual obligations for cost, quality, timeliness and specification, resolution of engineering conflicts between disciplines, systems and capabilities.
  • Integration and solution development to meet a coherent and prioritised set of demands, tailor and apply engineering processes, tools and approaches to develop innovative and creative solutions to contracts and specifications

Typical duties include

Management of an engineering programme or project consisting of a number of major engineering systems, disciplines, platform assemblies, equipment or software products.

1.           Lead and manage engineering staff or business partnerships/ Sub-contracts.

2.           Ensure each team member is assessed, developed, deployed and skilled to maximise their personal contribution and to meet the requirements of contracts, schedules and specifications

3.           Ensure developed solutions are clearly defined, integrated, configured, controlled and delivered, including resolution of conflicts and integration issues that occur through development and delivery phases

4.           Identify resource requirements through the lifecycle of the project and manage engineering resource within agreed limits

5.           Perform appropriate engineering planning, management and review activities to ensure Products are integrated, safe, fully compliant and delivered within agreed requirements for cost, quality, time and schedule

6.           Ensure capability and skills development, performance optimisation & maximisation and efficient use of engineering and functional resources

7.           Assure the maturity of the developed solutions is appropriate for the specific requirement and that all technical risks and opportunities are captured

8.           Review the processes and procedures within the span of control to reduce waste, improve efficiency and establish a dynamic and flexible best in class capability

9.           Interface and influence internal and external (customer and other stakeholders) such that product offerings meet requirements and specifications

10.         Ensure all engineering activities are undertaken in line with the Operational Framework and that compliance with all engineering policies is maintained

11.         Sign off for design, legal and technical requirements for a project or service

12.         Chair LCM Design Reviews and/or technical bid reviews for minor projects and provide significant contribution to larger projects
