Engineering Product Manager ( Senior- Career Level)
Sterling Heights, MI
Contract Position
Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams to deliver key products and oversee integration and testing at the subsystem and vehicle levels to ensure project success in schedule, cost, and performance.
- Provide engineering leadership for cross-functional teams, ensuring product delivery and successful integration and testing at subsystem and vehicle levels.
- Plan and execute engineering projects, using project management principles to create and maintain project plans and integrated schedules.
- Oversee funding mechanisms, project demand forecasting, and tracking of performance metrics.
- Lead vehicle system-level design, integration, build, and test activities while facilitating technical and programmatic events.
- Act as the primary technical interface for both internal and external stakeholders and represent the engineering organization to leadership and customers.
- Support and coordinate the resolution of incoming problem reports and manage the change process effectively to maintain design integrity and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and contribute to bid and proposal efforts, ensuring technical input and alignment with project goals.
- Drive process improvements for increased efficiency in design updates.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (other degrees considered with relevant experience).
- Clearance: Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in the defense industry or acquisition environments.
- Technical Leadership: Proven experience in leading design, development, and integration of complex systems.
- Management: Demonstrated ability to manage in an indirect leadership role, build and lead teams, and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Skills:
- Analytical, planning, and problem-solving expertise.
- Strong communication and business acumen.
- Competencies in assessing technical risks and developing mitigation plans.
- Negotiating skills and leadership capabilities.
- Travel: Willingness to travel as required.
