The Boeing Defense, Space and Security division is seeking a Experienced Mechanical Equipment Design and Installation engineer (Level 3) for the F-15 Equipment Installation Team. In addition to F-15, this team also supports F/A-18 and provides limited reach back work for other St. Louis GS&S and Phantom works programs as required. This position supports the development of general arrangement and layout of aircraft equipment/avionics, design of mounting structure and design of circuit breaker and relay panels. This position also assists with engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests) and follows documented processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of panels and equipment installation systems. This position requires coordination and collaboration with other design teams, Production Operations, and internal and external suppliers/customers. This position is located in Berkeley, MO.
Develops and maintains cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs. Supports analysis and design reviews.
Develops and maintains electrical product detail, assembly and installation designs (e.g., equipment racks, power panels, cable routing and geometry, antennas).
Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests).
Follows documented processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
Supports the development of statements of work.
Assists in the technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
Analyzes functional and physical input used in the development of integrated design and system architecture.
Works under general supervision.
This position requires the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 3 years or more of experience in Structural/Equipment Design
- 3 years or more of experience with computer aided design tools and systems (e.g. Unigraphics).
- Effective communication skills with customers, suppliers and co-workers
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3 years or more of experience with engineering processes, design concepts and techniques.
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
