Job Summary

 

The Facilities Engineer is accountable for ensuring optimal functioning of equipment and infrastructure. This involves planning and providing expert support to finding root causes and implementing corrective actions. Troubleshooting and optimizing asset and process reliability at optimal cost – ensuring assets never impact the schedule.

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring compliance to the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards. 
•    Analyses equipment and machinery failures and provides effective countermeasures.
•    Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address facility and equipment related issues, implementing plans to return equipment to OEM conditions and improve uptime.
•    Leads machine and equipment refurbishing plans, identifying suppliers, coordinating timelines and submitting CAPEX plans to leadership based on expert analysis.
•    The role may include planning, designing and overseeing the reconfiguration and alteration of equipment and machinery.
•    Manages facility improvement projects, oversee contractors, and maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
•    Prepares bid sheets and, in collaboration with Procurement, contracts for equipment and infrastructure projects.
•    Review and estimate design costs including equipment, installation, labour, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
•    Inspect or direct the inspection of infrastructure installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specification, and schedules.

Required Qualifications:


•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 
•    5+ years of experience in Facility and Maintenance Engineering 
•    2+ years of hands-on experience with electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment
•    2+ years of experience planning and estimating equipment refurbish and infrastructure projects
•    Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
•    Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Green Card holder)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate up, down, and across the business 
•    Strong computer skills, project management, presentations
•    Fluent in equipment and infrastructure standards and able to read schematics and blue prints
•    Proven structured Problem Solving experience
•    Experience working with a Lean Operating Model / Production System
•    Lean or Six Sigma certification by a reputable certifying body or benchmark company
•    Equipment/infrastructure experience in the Aerospace industry
•    A passion for the Aerospace industry
