Job Description:

We invite applications for a Fleet Engineering Specialist position.  The role holder will ideally be based at our Dunlin Road premises (Aberdeen), but applications will be considered from candidates who can take up this role on a remote working basis with travel to Aberdeen and other Bristow bases only when required.  

The Fleet Engineering Specialist’s overall purpose is to be the primary source of knowledge of their assigned aircraft model(s). They are responsible for monitoring and improving the maintenance and inspection programs to ensure Company aircraft are maintained safely.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible to the Fleet Engineering Manager for the following:

  • Review technical documentation issued by aircraft manufacturers, vendors and airworthiness authorities and issue a Technical Directive or Fleet Support Notice as required.

  • Vetting all relevant Technical Information issued against applicable aircraft Types in a timely manner and to advise on temporary amendments and the distribution to Document Control.  Act as a focal point and contact for all technical queries/requirements, including repairs, between the Company and the relevant aircraft/Engine/Equipment manufacturers and where necessary the Company’s Clients.  Also, attending any meetings with manufacturers and Airworthiness Authorities, as required.

  • Review flight safety and airworthiness information and issue Technical Directives as required. Monitor results and inform maintenance management.

  • Assess Data Change Requests and make recommendations for amendment as appropriate.

  • Review the Safety Reporting database and undertake follow up investigations/actions, as applicable, enter responses as required.

  • Monitor the embodiment of Airworthiness Directives, mandatory Service Bulletins, Repairs and Company Modifications, liaising with the Supply Chain when necessary, advising Technical Records for recording purposes and providing reports to maintenance Management.

  • Review of Reliability Reports, taking necessary action for improvement as required.

  • Assist/advise the Maintenance Programme and Reliability Analyst on the production and amendment of Maintenance Programmes.

  • Support the Group Flight Safety Officer in the investigation/follow up to any accident or serious incident relevant to their aircraft type.

  • Review Design Requests for modifications and endorse/comment as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: (minimum education requirements, key skills and experience)

Qualifications:

  • B2 Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

Experience:

  • Experienced B2 Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

Skills:

  • Must be Self-Motivated/Self Starter.
  • Must be proficient in all of the following – Microsoft Office, ERP systems, Workday and Service Now.
  • Strong Communication Skills with the ability to articulate, summarize, and present information clearly to audiences with different backgrounds and at different levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understand the need for and acts with integrity in their liaisons with all stakeholders.
  • Highly collaborative, works with all stakeholders to deliver results and keep others informed.
  • Must be approachable to both internal and external staff members.
  • Possess the ability to manage priorities and focus on the key issues.
  • Possess the ability to negotiate and influence with both internal and external customers to ensure adoption of standard processes.
  • Possess the ability to teach other staff members.
  • Visionary with drive and desire to achieve a higher performing organization.
  • Possess a strong internal network and is respected by the community at large.
  • The candidate will be required to travel occasionally (including internationally) to attend industry steering group meetings.
