Bell •
Fort Worth, Texas, United States
Position Type: Permanent
Job Description:

We’re more than aviation experts, we’re pioneers. We challenge what’s possible. From breaking the sound barrier to advanced tiltrotor systems. Today, Bell is shaping the future of aviation through specialized engineering. And we want you.

We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell V-280 Valor Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) and the Bell 360 Invictus Future Attack and Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA), part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and a next generation stop-fold tilt-rotor: Bell’s High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) platform. These designs all incorporate advanced fly-by-wire systems, with varying levels of autonomy. This position is onsite in Fort Worth; however, exceptions for alternate work arrangements may be considered.

Flight Control Laws

Bring your experience and ideas and help us develop flight control laws (CLAWS) for manned and optionally manned aircraft. You’ll work with test pilots and engineers to improve aircraft handling qualities and mission effectiveness. This role will be an integral part of the team, working closely with customers and subcontractors. You’ll be able to hone your technical abilities on significant engineering problems, all while gaining experience in leadership and communication.

What you’ll be doing as Flight Control Laws Engineer:

· Design and test CLAWS for aircraft and rotorcraft using physics-based, and flight identified models.

· Perform stability and control analysis of integrated flight and propulsion control systems.

· Develop sequencing logic for vehicle autopilot, autonomy, and sub-system automation.

· Support aircraft sizing activities and spec development for flight control system hardware.

· Develop requirements and test cases for formal verification and validation in a simulation environment and systems integration labs.

· Support new aircraft and technology development as well as proprietary analytical tools and applications.

· Participate in the conduct of aircraft flight tests from first flight through certification / qualification.

Job Requirements:

Skills you can bring to this role:

· Experience with the design of CLAWS for atmospheric flight vehicles including linear and non-linear analysis techniques in the time and frequency domains.

· Experience with flight dynamics and simulation modeling.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a team player mindset and the ability to prioritize work.

· Experience with desktop analysis, piloted software-in-the-loop simulation, piloted software and hardware-in-the loop test labs, and/or aircraft flight test.

· Exposure to the development, verification, validation, and certification / qualification of commercial or military aircraft to relevant industry or regulatory standards

· Exposure to software development in an embedded or real-time operating systems environment utilizing model-based design techniques with tools such as MathWorks MATLAB Simulink with Stateflow.

· Exposure to the hardware and software associated with flight control systems, avionics, electrical systems, engine controllers, inertial sensors, air data computers, analog sensors, mission systems, crew stations, and/or actuation devices.

What you need to be successful:

· At least 2 years of relevant experience.

· Bachelor’s degree with a major in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

· Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience.

· Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.
