Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

Become the Subject Matter Expert on weight and balance and performance programs for all Republic Airways fleet types.  Additionally, manages the Company’s fuel efficiency program.  Assist the Flight Operations team in fulfilling the Company’s mission of providing the safest, most reliable, and cost-efficient air transportation in accordance with Company policies and procedures, and FAA and other government regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

         Is the SME on the Republic Airways FAA-approved Weight and Balance Program.

         Is the SME on all Aircraft Performance Manuals (APMs) in the Republic Airways fleet.

         Is the SME on the Carry-On Baggage program and manual.

         Is the SME on the SITA AirCom server message formatting.

         Lead coordination meetings with interfacing departments and codeshare partners on weight and balance and performance programs

         Manages the Airline Modifiable Information (AMI) database.

         Manages ACARS/AMI data requests from partners

         Works closely with network partners and engineering on ACARS interface associated with automated weight and balance programs including electronic CLR interfaces.

         Analyzes aircraft performance and fuel data.  Investigates and resolves technical issues.

         Applies a data-driven approach with analytical rigor to deliver actionable intelligence to stakeholders including reports, visualizations, and analysis.

         Is the Company liaison to aircraft and engine manufacturers on all flight operations performance issues.

         Prepares cost predictions and works with other business unit departments to monitor budget.

         Ensures that all programs are formulated and administered in compliance with FAA regulations, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and Company policies and procedures.

         Represents the Company with government, industry, and communities in activities related to weight and balance and aircraft performance.

         Works with Flight Training Department to assist in the development of training modules associated with aircraft performance and weight and balance.

         Collaborates with the manufacturer, maintenance FAA, RAA, and other external organizations for current and future technologies.

         Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.

         Performs special projects or other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

         Must have a minimum of two years of college experience

         Knowledge of Transport Category Aircraft Weight and Balance and Performance requirements

         Must have a background in analytics and mathematical problem solving

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

         Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering or related area.

         Project Management experience

         Aircraft performance experience

         Knowledge of FAA procedures for weight and balance approvals

 

 

 

REGULATORY

         Able to pass an FAA-required 10-year work history review and criminal background and fingerprint checks. 

         Possess and maintain a valid US passport or foreign passport. 

         Authorized by law to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States. 

         Willing to submit to and able to pass FAA and Company mandated random drug and alcohol tests.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS
            Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 

  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
            Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

REASONING/PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY
            Possess strong analytical skills.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

  Strong evaluation and troubleshooting skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

         Able to climb, balance, stoop or crouch up to 10 of the time. 

         Able to sit for long periods of time. 

         Capable of lifting or moving items weighing up to 75 pounds.   

         Able to hear verbal communications in person, on the telephone, and over a headset.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

This position requires the ability to work near moving mechanical parts up to 10 of the time. 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel up to 30 of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
